Knee Down
1. Fumble: Knee down my foot. Who the heck was reviewing the play??
2. Targeting: The hit on Keil was targeting: It wasn't cloudy, misty, hazy or vague. It was a direct targeting hit helmet to helmet
3. Terrible officiating.
4. Hayden Moore: Great game for a freshmen. He could have a good future.

RE: Knee Down
I saw that hit. It was in no way targeting. Don't confuse targeting with simply being hit hard. The announcers explained it perfectly, he was neither defenseless nor hit with the crown of the head

i'm a uc fan, so I know that I have to be biased (according to all of you). But, the hit may not have been targeting, but it was a cheap shot. QB going down, he can't get up and run - no need to crack him like that. Jesse Palmer ( who I admittedly can't stand) did his usual flip flop - targeting, not targeting. Bottom line, it was a cheap shot.
The call at the end was close, on the fumble. But, that aside, uc has no one to blame but itself - you can't give up that much yardage, points, a pick six, etc., and blame a bad review call for your loss -

A penalty was called...late hit...very fortunate Kiel was not seriously hurt... No ones crying facts are facts

It was not helmet to helmet and he did not lead with the crown of his head. So those criteria were not met.
However he did hit Kiel in the head and neck area and launched himself. Which are the other criteria for a targeting call which were ignored in this instance.
I have never liked the targeting rule and if that play last night is not an example of targeting then the rule should be removed.

part of being a winner and supporting a winner is something I'll call grace - maybe you can call it class - from the hog / heart attack waiting to happen in the stands playing air guitar on a megaphone, to "fans" like you, its part of the growth process. I get it that you're all excited about the game - a big win for UM. BUT, as Paul Brown used to say, act like you've been there before. Realize that that game could've gone either way - if the fumble had been upheld, uc probably would've scored last - don't get so f'in cocky.

Memphis fans would act like we'd been there before if not for some fans (UC, UCF, and UH in particular) repeatedly reminding us that we should 'know our place'.....as if we're actually supposed to apologize for every win and kiss the rest of the league's butt for even being allowed in the league. Yes, the game could have gone either way but let's also recognize that there were other calls and non calls which could have affected the game in Memphis' favor as well.
How about this, Memphis fans will stop acting so cocky when UC and other fans stop consistently looking down their noses at us. Y'all are in the same conference as us. None of you are going to be mistaken for Bama anytime soon.

Nope. When they picked up the targeting flag, they called nothing.
I don't agree with the policy that it's an ejection or nothing. My personal opinion, it should have been just a straight 15 yard penalty.

I agree. There's j/os in any fan base. But, I've never talked **** like that with anyone on here, or any other blog. I guess my point is, the fewer of us that act like that, the better for all of us. a difference of opinion, esp. based on something like what team you root for, is no reason for anybody to get personal / ****** with anyone else. we all need to keep it "lighter".

FWIW, that was definitely a fumble. The announcers couldn't believe it when the call was reversed. And it definitely changed the game. Too bad, I hate to see refs decide the outcome.
That said, kudos to both for an awesome performance. Cinci and Memphis are both legit.

Been on a number of team/Conference board. Consensus was UC got the shaft on the overturned fumble call. The FB was coming out before the knee was down. If it was questionable at all, the call on the field stands.

Yes, the booth reversal was a travesty. Pure home cooking.

I've noticed it isn't only UC fans saying the overturned fumble was disgraceful, it's everyone who watched the game that isn't a Memphis fan.

RE: Knee Down
I am a Memphis fan and I think it was a fumble. But it happens and one play doth not make a game. The way our teams played defense it is going to be very hard to beat any team with a legit one. Both better get to the drawing board and soon.

Well, if you really want to whine about the fumble call...you guys got a gift on a fumble that should have been earlier in the game so it sorta evens out doesn't it

I agree that was a bad call (not as blatant but I think it should've been Memphis ball), but there is a little bit of a difference between a call early in the game and a game-deciding call with 2 minutes left.
