That's irrelevant to the problem. Pay to the head coach is a small issue. The real issue is the academic environment at UVa and UNC and is it tilted to keep athletes in school. That's more important than money to a coach.

Yes, pay to the head coach is irrelevant.
He is just one man.
He has to have a fully paid staff that is competent, he has to have a faculty prepared to help his players, he has to have an administration that supports him and has his back, he has to dozens of bag men willing to dole out cash and take the fall if they get caught, he has to have a student body that will not ***** and moan about taking a class with someone with an IQ of 85. He has to have alums that will give jobs to kids that get worthless degrees.
Paying the coach is the cherry on top of a 6 story wedding cake.

Without Jurich, without Louisville boosters, without Papa John, without the support of Louisville students, Petrino could not be successful. How can you really disagree?
