Is on the verge of putting together one of the best passing yards seasons in NCAA history. Through three games, vs three foes who are probably better than any or most they will face in conference play, he's thrown for 1,358 yards. If he just stays on this pace, he'd have around 5,400 yards after 12 games. I think the NCAA season record for passing yards is 5,833.

If NIU is good enough to get to the MACC, BG would not be our ideal opponent.

Does Johnson have a shot of being invited to NY if he keeps this pace?

I actually think Cooper Rush is a better QB than Johnson.

Ill take some of that BG defense any day though!

Was only a matter of time until Dino had that O clicking. That Offense is ridiculous & has won me much $$$ in fantasy :)

But they don't know how to defense

Seems more like they don't give a **** about defense.

And if it is indeed NIU vs BG again in the MACC, that game could well take 4 hours to complete given how fast both offenses move. The Murray State game felt like it took four hours to finish too.

Toledo's QB also would have mind numbing numbers if the receivers would not drop so many. There is so much talent in the MAC right now, it really does remind of the early 2000's.

How do ya think WMU feels? We have to play BGSU, @Toledo, @NIU all in a row! Talk about a gauntlet. Over half the P5 teams in the country wouldn't come out unscathed.

Quote:Toledo's QB also would have mind numbing numbers if the receivers would not drop so many.

I dunno about that. I didn't analyze their 2 games but every QB is going to have some drops, but completing half your passes -- (32/66) while having a decently short YPA (5.68) ... even if there's too many drops, not impressed. He had a 39% completion rate against Iowa State (wince).

Toledo's receivers have been drop happy this year. Not sure how many but it has definitely been noticed by their coaches.

Matt Johnson is great, but they also run an offense that allows that. Remember that WR they had who caught like 150 passes in a season? Around 2009.

Freddie Barnes still holds the NCAA reception record of 155 for a season in 2009. WMU's Braverman is on pace to eclipse that mark having caught 40 balls through three games. But I think that average might come down some after this week (if PJ sacrifices health for production like Carey did vs OSU, per MD)

Have you seen Cooper Rush play this year, he is playing out of his mind. I just think he brings an escapability factor that separates him from other MAC QBs. MAC has 3 of the 10 QBs in the nation right now

1 Matt Johnson, QB BGSU 91 148 61.5 1358 9.2 94 12 1 11 164.0
2 Dane Evans, QB TLSA 71 114 62.3 1172 10.3 69 8 2 6 168.3
3 Brandon Doughty, QB WKU 82 114 71.9 1134 9.9 78 5 2 3 166.5
4 Luke Falk, QB WSU 111 152 73.0 1070 7.0 39 8 1 4 148.2
5 Baker Mayfield, QB OKLA 74 110 67.3 1062 9.7 76 10 2 6 174.7
6 Patrick Mahomes, QB TTU 77 116 66.4 1029 8.9 64 9 3 0 161.3
7 Nick Arbuckle, QB GAST 82 121 67.8 989 8.2 75 7 4 8 148.9
8 Trevone Boykin, QB TCU 65 99 65.7 985 9.9 61 10 3 4 176.5
9 Cooper Rush, QB CMU 90 128 70.3 983 7.7 83 5 3 8 143.0
10 Zach Terrell, QB WMU 82 116 70.7 947 8.2 56 8 5 10 153.4

Yes, I have seen Rush play this year. He is a good QB but not on the level of Johnson, IMO.

I still have nightmares about the 2013 MACC when Johnson picked the Huskie defense apart.

Is Drew Hare in the top half of Mac Quarterbacks? The team with the best QB lately usually wins the MACC.

Easily. It's probably either him or Johnson at this point for #1.
