Baseball Roster
16 pitchers
4 catchers
7 infielders (including 1B)
4 OFers (Warren, Chandler, Brewer, Wunderlich)
The lack of infield and, especially, outfield depth is troubling, though I suppose Dane Myers (currently 3B/closer) could play OF if necessary (as he did on occasion last year). We really need Khevin Brewer to step up and be a significant contributor this year.
The way too early, seat of the pants guess as to our starting lineup and depth chart will be one week before Fall Ball commences...
C Kopycinski, DiCaprio, Johnson
1B Teykl, Fox, Johnson
2B Proctor, Lewis
SS Gray
3B Myers, Lewis
CF Chandler
RF Warren
LF Brewer, Wunderlich
Weekend starting pitchers: Duplantier, Fox, Salinas
Midweek starters: Otto, Petitte, Rollins
Middle/long relief: Solecitto, N.Orewiler, Amador, a couple of the Freshmen
Closers: Myers, Otto (if he's not starting)
Based on his Summer's performance and from everything I've heard, Dane Myers could be our breakout performer for 2016, and could very well be a two-way player as starting 3B and closer. Big Jon is fully recovered from his shoulder impingement problems that sidelined him last year, and Josh Petitte is healthy after having bone chips removed earlier this Summer. Our frontline pitching is strong and experienced, but we need several of the Freshmen to contribute for our bullpen to be solid.
Let the fun and debate begin!
