I didn't realize BC had the best defense in the country, NIU will be up against it this weekend.

Haven't you mentioned it numerous times? and it's hard to be the "best" at anything three games into the season.

I know they were an elite defense I just didn't know the absolute best

Not saying BC's defense isn't good, but when you play 2 FCS schools it certainly helps the stat line. Granted they did only give up 14 to Florida State, but still think the stats are padded a bit.

IIRC their defense only gave up 7 to Florida State.

Exacty. It would be like when NIU "upset" Northwestern last year. Northwestern never should have been favored in the first place.

Their first two games were against Howard and Maine I believe. Easy to get defensive stats playing them

Yes, their D did a fine job against FSU. But NIU held Ohio State to only a single offensive touchdown and I don't see anyone saying NIU has one of the best defenses in the nation. FSU has a new OL and a new QB. It's going to take them awhile to gel, especially considering this was their first "real" opponent this year. they didn't exactly light up the scoreboard vs USF either.

Anyway, It should be a good test, but as I've stated before, it's not exactly the 85 bears we're going up against here.

I get the feeling for NIU to win this game, Hagan has to have a very good game.

The defensive lightning has to strike twice in the same season. The odds aren't good.

Why? Their offense isn't great and they're playing 2 back up QB's.

Cursed by the bastard child. His kid's just trying to be a rebel against his dad. But it has the Herbstreit curse.

Yeah, but their O doesn't have to be good. Look at OSU's. You could replace turnovers with more lack of yards. It's basically going to be a repeat opponent in a sense. Less Threatening on offense, but the same overall results to go against NIU to happen. NIU's going to need to step up on D like they did against OSU to pull this out.

They'll have to step up on O too. No false start penalties inside the other teams 5 yard line. No messed up screen plays. Hare will have to make some plays running the ball and throwing.

Interesting that it is just this kid who has given any damn credit to how well NIU's defense played vs. OSU.

He's smarter than his old man IMHO! 03-lmfao

This is definitely not the same FSU of the last three years. This FSU team would get killed by those teams.

But yes, you brought up the fact that FSU is playing with an entirely new offensive line. That's right! Five new starters on their OL and a QB who just started in their program a couple months ago. Not hard to imagine BC defense having success against an offense like that.

The BC defense did look fast though. I've only seen the first half of that game.
