About 4 points...it's basically a pick'em game.

BC has one of the best defenses in the country and held FSU to 14 points, they are better than being a 60's team. Statistically BC should be about a 1 TD favorite.

Statistically yes, they have a good defense. We'll see how good it really is when they play an experienced line and experienced QB. Not FSU's new line, new QB and two schools no one has ever heard of.

I've said it before, but the most realistic rankings would be made by the oddsmakers, and not a bunch of voters.

Old BCS computer rankings would have BC 61 and NIU 63

I've said it before, but the most realistic rankings would be made by the oddsmakers, and not a bunch of voters.

Why? Oddsmakers determine their spreads based on what they think the public thinks.

The original lines are typically based off of computer-generated power ratings (sort of like their own various Sagarin ratings). They'll adjust it slightly as they see fit to balance the money on both sides but it's usually not grossly different from their original starting point (although there are exceptions throughout the year due to injuries and the like). Those power ratings typically do not coincide with human polls.
