That's kind of a joke.

And no joke: Let's hope the D that played last week is the one that plays this week.

I've learned that one week has 0 to do with the following week, particularly when it comes to the D.

This is VERY VERY physical BC team that NIU better come prepared to face, or BC will run for 400 yards

sometimes there are breakout moments. Shawun Lorry had one vs OSU and so did the defense. I don't think this was a 1 game effert. I think the D has rounded into form and expect top play here on out. I think the team learned a lot about themselves in the OSU game.

They aren't quite the bruisers they were in previous years. Line has a couple guys out it looks like. Either way with a new QB they will hand it off a LOT. I'd wager a good amount of money they don't get anywhere close 400 yards of rushing. They probably don't hit 400 total yards to be honest. Id be shocked if they get over 225 yards rushing. I think you're being a bit hyperbolic.

I agree with this completely...in my mind its about preparation, focus and execution. The talent was there, the coaching and schemes were there. I would think that given it was the number 1 team in the country they put more time into prep and focused at a higher level than the previous games. Now they know what it takes, individually and as a unit. They know how good they can be and they will do everything they can to maintain that level of play.

I really look for another top defensive performance come Saturday with a better offensive performance.

I know Northwestern isn't Ohio State, but our defense dominated their offense last year and proceeded to get wrecked by Vegas the week after.

I'm really not sure this was some breakout moment. I certainly hope I'm wrong, but we'll see.

It was a great performance, but it can be argued that all three INTs were on bad throws. The first one in particular was a straight up "Where the **** are you throwing that?" throw.

Actually, BC's offense IS going to be a lot like Ohio State's.... but unfortunately, so will their D.

There's no doubt the first one was a duck, but both of Lurry's picks were really nice plays by him. He was in zone both times and on both plays he passed of one WR, came off him, and picked a pass that wasn't attended for the guy he originally was covering. And on Folliard's pick, he did a great job getting depth in his drop.

So yes, Lurry got some help on the first one but I thought they were all well played by NIU's defense.

BC has a good D (hey hey) but their line isn't at the level Ohio State's is.

Both Lurry and Folliard had the coverage played correctly, yes. But that first Jones INT...that was like an overthrown basketball lob pass.

since they were INTs I guess they were bad throws. However, if you watched the replays, our DBs read what was happening and adjusted to put themselves in a position to make the pick.

If they have 2 games in a row like that, I'll be a believer. We've had too many good QBs pick apart the defense for one game to convince me.

Reading everyone's comments, the dialogue on what will happen, great stuff. Got to admit, this is starting out to be one fun season....

It's pretty simple, our D looks great against below average passing teams, and struggles against good/accurate passing teams.

Barrett threw for 2900 and 34 TDs so, uh, no.

They have two rookie QBs without any experience. The defense should be able to have some schemes to confuse them and come away with easy picks. If we can get them in 3rd and medium to long - I think we will get some INTs

It could be that the Huskie defense brought their A-game to Ohio State, but treated their first two games as exhibition games.

OSU obviously hasn't figured out their passing game yet this year. They currently have the 29th worst team passing rating among FBS teams. And that ain't all NIU's doing.

Well a sizable portion of it is because of NIU
