OSU Fans awfully quiet after the game, NIU loud during and tailgate next to The Shoe
I watched a little of the game and I loved the NIU chant we had going a couple times. There was a mic right below us in 10AA. Other than a few staged and celebratory cheers, they were not loud.

I could not believe how quiet 100K+ fans could be after a game they WON. Actually both teams fans were quiet, but obliviously different reasons. I think the "disinterested" feeling early on turned into maybe we aren't that good to maybe this team is better than we thought. There was more of the consensus that they played like crap, but NOT one opened their mouth in any way. Not even to be sarcastic. Not NIU got lucky, not we'd beat you 100/100 crap. It was very strange. I can only imagine what would have happened had they lost.

And I would like to thank the couple dozen that stopped by the W. Stadium lot we were in. NW corner, about 300 feet from stadium flying the NIU colors, partying with my old roommates. Took a few jabs, but overall went well. Were with some OSU fans, their kids and friends who were either students or recent grads, and a another couple dozen OSU fans. We all got along. I think there may have been a couple board goers there, a couple of guys who said they browse but don't post. If you are reading this get on here and join the conversations!

PS: Thanks to the guy who left the 375 ML bottle of Tito's vodka. We waited lol!

At halftime, that place was silent....except for an NIU chant. It made my heart grow three sizes. It's almost visible to the naked eye now.

I took a bus to and from the game filled with OSU fans. They were very complimentary about both our team and our fans. One older guy told me a bunch of young NIU fans sat right behind him and they cheered for their team the entire game while being very polite to him and the tOSU fans.

Many of my co-workers stopped by my cube on Monday and told me they would be surprised if we do not go undefeated the rest of the season. My bosses boss told me to book reservations for a New Years Bowl game.

Lots of respect from the tOSU fan base once they got over the shock of a very close and competitive game.

My group was in 10AA near the top of the section. We also noticed the mics in the NIU sections and you could tell on the broadcast they made our sections a bit louder. It also surprised me how quiet the stadium was at times. You'd think with that many people there'd never be a quiet down for the other team's offense. They almost had to be reminded to get loud at times (usually by those annoying former player led chants on the jumbotrons). But when they were loud they were LOUD!

btw... I'm not one of the lurkers Randy mentioned he met but I did meet a few while tailgating as well as Josh Corcoran's family/friends and Luke Shively's group. I always encourage fans to walk around and meet other fans while tailgating. Especially at an away game.

Who doesn't enjoy a good lurker LOL. I shared some of my Italian sausage and Pepper's from Walt's on S.Side (bought in Homewood if he is reading) with them, couple of beers.

Paid off with the Tito's.
