Now, if you want to have a really good thread, we can talk food.

Prejean's would not be too high on the list, lol, BTW.

Yeah, I always considered Prejean's to be something of a tourist trap, decent food to be sure, but not the best by any means. For seafood I like Riverside Inn better than any other and consider Don's Seafood Hut a distant second.

We are in agreement. I usually tell it like this: there are much better places for Cajun food, and much better places to hear Cajun music. But to get the both in one shot, Prejean's is not bad.

And my number one is also Riverside, but the Hut has really improved since the last renovation and change in menu...so I go there much more often, and really consider it a tie.

Come over to Ragin Pagin. There are multiple threads devoted to the fantastic restaurants in and around Lafayette.

Speaking of restaurants. I used to eat bbq at a place in Hattiesburg but cant remember the name. It was on a highway maybe a bit out of town and it looked like someones house! Really good ribs and pulled pork.

Leatha's is the place your referring to. Really good bbq, not quite as entertaining since the grandson of the owner passed away. He would come to your table and sing for a dollar.
If you ever wanted to pull a good one on a friend that was there you could pay him to go to that table and sing. I once gave him 5 bucks and pointed to another table. Asked to "go sing rockin robin" for that guy. Never knew that song had 27 different verses.

Farve takes 'em down in like 3 plays. TD.

I wan an angry drunk that night.

There were some great games between Favre and Brian Mitchell at qb for the Cajuns. I think Favre won 2 and Mitchell won one. Mitchell was an incredible athlete. I am excited about this series. While USM has crashed the last 3 years, the Cajuns have risen to new heights.

The food in Lafayette is a good enough reason to do this series. I remember coming to Lafayette for the New Orleans Bowl and eating at Prejean's and Blue Dog Cafe. That was some great eats.

Yep...those were some good games indeed.

And I had forgot to include Blue Dog in the list. The top three Cajun restaurants in LFT are Riverside, Don's Hut & BD, IMHO

No disrespect to the Cajuns I am just skeptical about this series if it happens. They are a good team and fun to watch, but I personally would like to play more MAC and MWC teams. We just don't go out west to play much (except for a few conference mates) but I would like to see us play teams that we aren't accustomed to playing particularly out west. I'm sure a big part of this possible series is because of proximity and traveling costs but still.

Why would you want to play "more games out west?"

What does playing far-flung western teams and MAC-area teams do for our fan base? We won't travel. Our recruiting? We don't recruit there.

We would travel well to LA and AL. We recruit LA and AL. I would suggest that ALL of our non-conference match-ups be against teams in the states of LA and AL. Like it or not, these teams are our peers.

What set of games would you rather see?

USM vs. ULL; USM vs. USA; USM vs. Troy; USA vs. Tulane

or

USM vs. Toledo; USM vs. E. Mich.; USM vs. San Jose State; USM vs. Nevada?

Which are better for the fan bases and for recruiting?

We need these games. We need them Home and Home. We need bands, students, and fans traveling to one another's stadiums. That is how interest and rivalries are created.

I like the first set. But you can leave Tulane off. That's like playing Alustin P. Much better matchups to be had all around the south.

I thought that as I typed it, but the other choice was ULM... not compelling at all. At least with Tulane, you have NOLA. But your are right... the least compelling in the group.

Our non-conference schedule concerning G5's should be a steady diet of ULL, USA, with a little Troy thrown in as well. We compete head-to-head with these teams for recruits. The only way that we get to the best that we can be is to be seen as the best G5 in the MS-LA-AL region by recruits. Our best days were when we got second pick after the SEC schools in those states.

Someone on Ragin Pagin said Mitchell never let Favre forget that he was 1-2 against the Cajuns with Brian at the helm.

I'd love to see the series renewed.

Oh You thought we were referring to U of L in Louisville. I get that a latur fan would not understand a conjunction and maybe get U of L (The University of Louisville) confused with UL (THE University of Louisiana). And to think, you used up all your computer time at the public library on erroneous info. Nice try, little sis.

My bad. Thanks for correcting me. Many people don't know that Mitchell was the first college qb to run for 3000 yds and pass for 5000 yds in his career at ULL.

UL was down 21-3 and USM was rolling in Hattiesburg and it looked like an easy win over Mitchell and the Cajuns until we tried a double reverse and lost 15 yards plus got a clipping penalty. It was downhill after that for my team as Mitchell led them to 3 td's and a 24-21 win...

Are they saying home and home, 2 game series? More than 2 games? Is the Dome involved? I would be excited about any of the above.
