Most if not all religions become cruel if taken to their extremes. As does secular humanism. Dogma is dangerous.

I totally agree. I think any civilization would decay into barbarous activities void of a strong government presence.

This is the scariest thing that I've read in a long time. I don't think context is relevant in quoting you on this, either.

I will note the same argument is made in favor of religion, and this argument is precisely what coerces people into accepting barbarous authority, whether it be religious or secular (i.e. government).

Quote:In his last phone call home, Lance Cpl. Gregory Buckley Jr. told his father what was troubling him: From his bunk in southern Afghanistan, he could hear Afghan police officers sexually abusing boys they had brought to the base.

“At night we can hear them screaming, but we’re not allowed to do anything about it,” the Marine’s father, Gregory Buckley Sr., recalled his son telling him before he was shot to death at the base in 2012. He urged his son to tell his superiors. “My son said that his officers told him to look the other way because it’s their culture.”

Rampant sexual abuse of children has long been a problem in Afghanistan, particularly among armed commanders who dominate much of the rural landscape and can bully the population. The practice is called bacha bazi, literally “boy play,” and American soldiers and Marines have been instructed not to intervene — in some cases, not even when their Afghan allies have abused boys on military bases, according to interviews and court records.

Thanks Bush.

So Bush was still president in 2012? 07-coffee3

No but he was when we decided to change the hearts and minds of these people. LOL

So which democrats exactly opposed going into Stan'?

President Obama on Monday defended his decision to increase American involvement in Afghanistan, calling it a “a war of necessity”

Can we just not partisanize this on either side and acknowledge it's shameful that the US military leadership is letting this go on in our bases of operation?

Because strong governments can't perpetrate barbarous activities...
