Sometimes it is better to lucky than good
In most games there are a number of plays that can effect the outcome of the game but two come to mind in the last two games which is the difference between Toledo being 2-0 and Toledo being 0-2: 1) next to the last play in game 1 where the Arkansas receiver broke free in the end zone and QB overthrew him, and 2) the last play of regulation where the Iowa State kicker (having previously made a 47 FG) missed a 37 yard attempt----the ISU fans (with some justification) blame the coaches (who were obviously playing for a FG all along) for not having the team center the ball on the previous play so the kick was from from the hash mark----nevertheless, it still should have been made.

Two instances of luck smiling on Toledo. In fact in both games Toledo has been lucky to face an opponent even MORE intent in shooting itself in the foot (or head) multiple times than were the Rocket who set the bar pretty high in that category themselves.

The good news is that these kind of breaks are the kind that "Teams of Destiny" seem to catch on their way to the top and without which they would never reach the top-----so who knows? However the Law of Averages does suggest at some point in the schedule (perhaps as early as next week??) Toledo is going to run up against an opponent team that is not intent on shooting themselves in the foot on every other play and if Toledo continues to collect senseless penalties, drop passes and miss blocks or tackles, their glass carriage is going turn back into a pumpkin pretty quickly.

Well stated!

1) That pass went in slow motion. Took about a minute and a half for it to fall out of reach. About had a heart attack.

2) Moving the post 2 feet west was a smart idea.

There is a lot of truth in your statement but "better" in a given game is also relative to your opponent. UT has been lucky in the first two games to be less incompetent , if you will, regarding their game execution than their opponent. That can be restated to say that their game execution was better than their opponents (although it was still pretty bad IMHO).

However if UT continues to play like they have been playing against an opponent who executes the game very well, it is unlikely that their talent level will be enough for them to play over their mistakes and be the "better" team for that game and at point their luck will make a significant downturn and head south.

we are also a couple of horrible dropped passes in both games from winning each by 2 scores. remember, roberts and russell had terrible drops vs ark that basically took points off the board. same vs iowa st
