Good luck Orange!

Good luck.

When Fournette runs the ball it reminds me of Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson. He's simply that dominant.

Yes, he's a throwback to the stud RB days of the 80s, guys like Bo, Herschel, and Dickerson. 6'2", 230 pounds of muscle to break tackles at the line, and then the sprinter's speed to go the distance once he's clear of it.

Adrian Peterson is the only similar physical specimen out there.

I don't know what the rules are, but he should be in the NFL right now. He's just that ready.

Unfortunately for him, the current rules don't allow him to play in the NFL this year, or even next year. This is only his second season out of high school. For obvious reasons, he wasn't red-shirted.

This raises an interesting question. Should such a sure bet for the NFL expose himself to risk of serious injury by playing in college next year, or would he be wise to sit out the year? Even with the greatest running backs, there seems to be a limit on how many carries (and hits) you can take before your career takes a nose dive.

It's a bad situation. What he should do is take out a $10 million Lloyd's of London insurance policy against college injury.

It's the same thing we saw three years ago with another freak, Jadeveon Clowney. And we saw what he did, he basically took his senior year off, barely putting forth any effort on the field to avoid injury.

Now that he's in the NFL, he's injured!

It isn't just the risk of injury. With running backs in particular, there seems to be a short "shelf-life", measured in carries as well as years. There aren't many 30 year old RB's left in the NFL these days. These kids who are truly ready, as Fournette seems to be, deserve the chance to capitalize on as many of the years they have, and not be stuck in college. Just my opinion.

I agree. RB's just don't have long careers these days, the defenders are too big and strong, hit so hard you can only take so much pounding. It's not like the 1960s, when Jim Brown was bigger than a lot of the LBs, and even some of the DLs, he was facing.

Without Dungy we won't be passing effectively. That kid was amazing when I saw him against Wake Forest...

Our chances weren't good before but Syracuse OC just said on Syracusefan.com that Zach Mahoney is "the guy" against LSU. Now we are certainly Doomed!

It would be a win to simply not be blown out regardless of who is starting at QB.

What should the penalty be in this case?

This article brings up some very good idea. I don't think that CMU player set out to intentionally hurt Dungey seriously, but I do think he was trying to send him a message as Dungey was running all over and thru the CMU defense and those guys had no answer for him, so the CMU player was obviously frustrated and wanted to make Dungey think twice about running with the ball. That said, it was a dirty play and could have seriously injured the kid. Thanks for linking the article Lenville.

I do think that there should be stiffer penalties for plays like that.

I think if Syracuse plays inspired, they can keep it close for awhile....

too much power for LSU though...the LSU O-line is extremely big and physical...they're going to wear Syracuse down

LSU's defense is playing the most disciplined football since 2011 IMO....John Chavis was a good D. Coordinator, but sometimes the defenses lacked discipline and focus. With Steele and Orgeron, they seem better at tackling and fundamentals

The guy accelerated and went low for the hit well after Dungey had thrown the ball and was going down. He then smacked him in a helmet to helmet hit. The CMU player should be banned for life and personally liable for any resulting med expenses. It would be one thing if the guy tried to stop and/or was unable to avoid contact, but he very clearly went out of his way to hit a player with a dirty hit for no reason other to inflict pain and/or actual injury. That, by definition, isn't a reasonably foreseeable part of the game, and it is battery and possibly assault IMHO.

Syracuse is starting a fifth string walkon QB transfer from Jr College. He may be better than the fourth string QB who plays with cement shoes. The starter, Terell Hunt, his backup Eric Dungey, and his backup AJ long are all injured, although AJ Long could see time this weekend. SU really has no business keeping it close, I do feel that the defense will get its share of sacks. But that's all that I can count on.

Maybe SU can petition the NCAA for another year of eligibility... for Donovan McNabb?

OK, that was too funny to get mad at. Besides, McNabb is too old and out of shape.

Unfortunately, LSU will likely not throw the ball all that much.

Get ready for a steady diet of Leonard Fournette. Good luck, 'Cuse.

I will be rooting for you.

They will throw the ball more than they have because SU's secondary is very bad.
