I'm gonna tell you....this guy should be on our short list if and when Fuentes get his deserving promotion to the next level...

I like this guy.

It used to be that a coach had to take the "big score" contract if it came along (now $2M per year is a good deal). Coach Fu (as the players call him), is very successful here and he has a substantial contract. He can also stay here and coach as long as he wants to. He's a millionaire with job security.

He feels real ownership in this program. He's been allowed to build this program the way he wants. His family is happy and he's got great support. The job as Head Football Coach at the University of Memphis has come a long way from Tommy West's exit speech.

I'm not saying Fuente won't leave, but this is uniquely his football program. There are a handful of places that would be attractive to him, but not as many as some people think.

Gary Patterson is in his 15th year as the head coach of TCU. He is making about $3 million per year. We can compete with that.

Gr8 retort & excellent point & perspective.....The points made by Babers also indicates the level of recruiting that's going on here! Stating
'those guys were BIG & long". Those long passes were sort of desperation, as Babers realized that 1. Memphis was NOT going away; as well as his team was wearing down....It was calculated & exciting, but actually came back to haunt them, as scoring on those BIG hitters kept forcing them to bring their defensive unit on the field..

Gr8 game and wonderful to watch, Fuente has a home as long as he wants! It would be gr8 to have Babers in AAC

Tulane could use him. They like lots of points down that way!

It's hard to imagine he'd ever be run off.

A couple of mediocre years, say 6-5....is all it takes for a few to ask for his head.

That's what they said about Tommy West after the New Orleans Bowl

True. After Tommy had the heart attack, he lost focus and possibly the desire he had. The team never played the same afterwards.

Exactly. My signature sums up my believe about the attitude of most fans (including Memphis).

I wonder if Coach Babers' mother was a Flintstones fan?
