Toledo already has a win over Arkansas and is leading Iowa State. That's a pretty good start for an access bowl spot.

Oh, and I hate Toledo, but respect their program from the MAC days.

Good to see Toledo back to where they were when MU was in the MAC. Great program and great history, need to get them back on the schedule, always(nearly) great games with them and big crowds.

Toledo went on to beat IS and is looking very good. The Rockets were always a hated rival in the MAC, but it's nice to see them get back on track for the top spot. Right now, between the Rockets and Temple, they are the G5 challenges to Boise State for Access Bowl consideration, imo. Both teams, though have VERY tough conference games ahead...particularly Northern Illinois, at Bowling Green and Western Michigan. Going to be hard to get through that trio unscathed. Temple has a challenge with Notre Dame and Memphis, although both are at home. I like their chances.

I thought the catch phrase was "gaining speed"...

I don't believe they will even win the MAC. Just my two cents. But id take the field, no question.

Interesting Toledo is 120th in the nation in yards per game but yet has 2 solid wins.

What's really weird is that they are 115th in total defense giving up just under 500 yards per game, but they are only giving up 17.5 ppg. Thats one point per 26 yards given up. That's almost incomprehensible. They are the ultimate bend but don't break defense, ranked 2nd nationally in red zone defense.

To put that in perspective, Marshall gives up one point for every 17.3 yards, Middle gives up one for every 15.8, La Tech is 12.8, Rice is 12.7. The number one total defense, Boston College, gives up one point per 18.6 yards.

That stat would indicate that they will have some losses. You simply can not sustain that number. Really anything over 15 is a solid number, conversely, on offense, if you aren't getting at least 1 point per 15 yards of offense, you are pretty inefficient.

That why NIU has only won 13 games of the 42 FB games against Toledo. NIU vs UT winning percentage is 30.9%. Considering the current 5 game NIU win streak over the Rockets that's not so good(Toledo's prior win streak over NIU was 11 straight). Huskie wins in the Glass Bowl are also very few.
Having to play your WR at QB because your other QB's are injured and losing 27-24 in DeKalb isn't exactly choking, bad luck more than anything.
