As others have pointed out, MSU was never among the "favorites" for the Sunbelt because of football. They bring strengths in other sports and have the POTENTIAL to become a viable football program. Obviously they aren't there yet. They remain an excellent institutional and geographic fit for the Belt.
I'm beginning to think Lamar or SHSU may be better long-term options. MSU basketball is overrated.
It would be nice if we could toss all of these potential Sun Belt additions into a single conference, let them battle it out reality show-style for a spot. Missouri St, SHSU, Lamar, Liberty, JMU, Jax State, EKU, UTC, and even Delaware. Would make this an easier process.

Arkansas State vs Missouri State

In the meantime they replaced a basketball arena built in 1976 with a new $67 million one in 2008, play in a Class AA minor league ballpark that was built with the Bears playing there in mind from the start.
We've also sold out our last two season openers, with 18,700 and 17,800 crowds (capacity is 17,500). And our new tailgating area rivals those that I have seen at OK State and Iowa. This area is just dying to have a winning program. Hopefully that happens while I'm still alive.

I've never been to tailgate at Oklahoma, but tailgating at Iowa is massive and is spread out over the whole campus. There's not really a specific tailgating area, just around campus in parking lots and at houses an lining the streets.

I spoke with someone (wearing a Missouri St Athletics shirt) from Missouri St on the sidelines during the game. I told him yall would be a good fit, if you'd move up.
He quoted some figure about how much it would cost to 'have our heads bashed in like this again...", and whether it was worth it.
About that time, Wand took off on another long TD run, and I didn't see him again.

I would hope they could improve. I would also hope the fans could see that happening. BTW was that a MSU employee?

He was wearing a Missouri St Athletics shirt. I assume he was an employee. But he sure wasn't thrilled with the idea. At least not at that moment.

Yep. We got our heads bashed in for years and it cost a lot. Would do it again though.

Yep, we sure did! Many years of it.
Ga Southern, Appy, Troy and the like have no idea how good they have it. To have an administration who understand what's needed to make the move and do well.

That show would sell, with a voting off concept introduced (Survivor-esque) most schools would likely gang up to get rid of Liberty first. Liberty would be the good looking 24 year old lady with tons of her parents money, but is a total religious zealot spoiling everyone's fun in the house with prayer groups, curfews, random scripture quoting, and telling everyone they are going to hell for everything they say or do.
