Fro what I saw yesterday, we have a chance against Boston C. but it will be a very difficult challenge.

Beating an unranked BC team with a QB in his first start will not have the whole county talking about NIU.
Their D looked pretty good against FSU. If we control the line of scrimmage and our O has some success, it will put us on some radars.

You forget how ignorant the country is. These are the same people that think OSU just sucked yesterday and NIU got pretty lucky.

I don't see the NIU/BC highlights even making Sportscenter, let alone having the whole country talking about NIU. But having NIU on some radars, yeah I guess.

I sure hope that we have an opportunity to see which one of us is right!

BC does have some notice in the Coaches Poll and is 46 in the country. BC does have a top 25 ranked defense and it will be very difficult for NIU to score on Saturday. No, pulling an upset would not put NIU in some national frenzy, but if you couple a strong showing vs Ohio State with a win vs a quality P5 opponent, that will cause many to start to take notice.

Yah. They are going to be pissed and with something to prove. Not down enough suffering a loss, but down enough to be questioned. Yikes.

Quote:As exciting as this game was, it will be so interesting to see if NIU can play decently the next 2 weeks, but those are 2 rough games on the horizon.

I see the BC game much like the OSU game. BC's O will be containable and like an off-key OSU. Great running game, poor passing game. Their D is VERY Good. So NIU is going to be facing much-of-the-same.... but NIU knows what to learn from yesterday.

Just watched College Football Sunday on ESPNU. Lot of coverage of the game, but not a single mention about how well NIU played. Lots of blather about how poor the bucknuts played, but zero credit given to the Huskies.

Typical.

No worries. We just have to keep winning. If we can get to the ESPN week night games without losing, ESPN will make sure everyone knows our only loss was by 7 points to the #1 team in the country.

I doubt it. They'll be too busy promoting the big SEC or ACC game they will be airing the following Saturday.

The advantages Ohio St. has over NIU in a million ways are nearly insurmountable. NIU played the #1 in the country, the defending National Champions and likely Champions again this year, to 7 points at their place. There is a very good chance no other team will play Ohio St. this close all season, especially in Columbus. A win by NIU would have been beyond incredible. Despite not winning, if you can't appreciate how well NIU performed today, I feel sorry for you. You look at life through a pretty terrible lens.

^^^ THIS!

Complaining about our offense? Hare had so little time before OSU was in his face - nobody could get clear to throw a long pass. Golloday was covered most of the time. Couldn't get running game to the outside without being stopped. Stopped running up the middle. Our O was facing a tough D in OSU.
I am very very proud of how our team did. We ended up only down by 1 TD! This game could have been a complete blowout!

Here it is Monday - and none of the media D-bags will give the NIU defense any kind of credit for what they did. Just totally pisses me off!!

I just don't think this was nearly as bad as people are saying (when Hare was kept in the pocket). The problem is sometimes Hare is a bit slow to release the ball, that is something you obviously cannot do vs Ohio State.

Yes, and it's still going on today. tOSU underperformed! Can you imagine the criticism of tOSU had we won? The media wags would have labeled them as one of the worst teams in the country.

That's why I just think this BC game is so incredibly important. You follow up the OSU game with a win vs BC, you really stamp some national legitimacy on NIU's program.

RE: ***NIU v. OHIO STATE Official Game Thread***
The FSU defense in the orange Bowl was much better than Ohio St. Huskies beat themselves on Saturday. Hares interception for a touchdown, the false start penalty, that drive was going to end up a touchdown. One screen pass was going to be a touchdown, if our running back doesn't trip over our lineman. Those were our errors not Ohio St great defense! Huskies should've won that game. Carey and every player on both team know it! This was our Boise St moment. We would still be all over the sports news all week. Program changing moment. No one cares about a close finish. That's why the media is saying Ohio St was sloppy.
