Yah, I'm not sure what to make of the MAC this year. It looks tough, but why aren't more teams pulling off the big wins?

Ball State comes back from 17-0 to beat EMU 28-17. Freshman QB Riley Neal went 24-28/194/1 and rushed 11 times for 86 yards.

Someone has been touting that Fr quaterback and that stat line shows someone was right.

UT wins in 2OT's.....it takes a little out of the sting that today was with so many tough losses...as a Miami grad, I can't tell you how bummed I am that we came up short against UC today.....we had our chances but didn't take them all...still, we will be a competitive team in the MAC again, starting this year!

Sportscenter recap of NIU game-

- Buckeye QBs threw INTs because they are bad.
- Buckeye Defense made INTs because they are good.
- NIU had absolutely nothing to do with anything.

Listening to the Ohio State and Big Ten slappies try to explain away ANOTHER competitive game with a MAC team has been by turns amusing and frustrating.

RE: Week 3 Football- It's Gameday
looking ahead to week 4-

vs P5
BGSU @ Purdue
NIU @ Boston College
Ohio @ Minnesota
Ball State @ #23 Northwestern
UMass @ #8 Notre Dame
CMU @ #4 Michigan State
WMU @ #1 Ohio State

vs G5
Arkansas State @ Toledo
Army @ EMU
Akron @ LA Lafayette
Nevada @ Buffalo
Marshall @ Kent State
Miami @ Western Kentucky

vs FCS
N/A

I see us having a reasonable chance to get as many as 3 P5 wins next week, maybe 4 if the stars align. Sadly I'm less optimistic about our matchups vs other G5 teams.

RE: Week 3 Football- It's Gameday
vs P5
BGSU @ Purdue
- Go with BGSU

NIU @ Boston College
- Tossup. BC D will be like OSU's. NIU needs to get their O going. It's going to be like a repeat of today's game against OSU, but NIU should be more ready to correct.

Ohio @ Minnesota
- Almost Tossup, edge to Minnesota. They barely beat Kent, but Ohio is figuring themselves out at QB spot. Expect close game; edge to Minn

Ball State @ #23 Northwestern
- Possibly close game - NW wins. BSU has talent, and figuring themselves out. NW is better, though.

UMass @ #8 Notre Dame
- Notre Dame wins. UMass may catch Notre Dame by surprise to make this close. Or ND could run away with it. ND's weird.

CMU @ #4 Michigan State
- MSU wins. MSU wins solidly and isn't going to take CMU lightly. CMU will be tough on D and make MSU have to earn it every step.

WMU @ #1 Ohio State
- OSU wins big. OSU is going to get rolling on QB, and will be much better on O and have their sh!t together against WMU. WMU will have a better D than one would expect after that GA-Southern game.... and WMU will SCORE easier than you'd expect after OSU's dominance over Hawaii & NIU's O. Won't be close to a shutdown on WMU's O. But OSU's O is going to wake up this game and make OSU win by 3+ possessions.

vs G5
Arkansas State @ Toledo
- TOSSUP. Ark State is TOUGH. Toledo has a tough D, but not a good O. Good running game, but the passing game is not all that great.

Army @ EMU
- TOSSUP. Army's better this year. But it's at EMU, and EMU's better.

Akron @ LA Lafayette
- LA-Laf with the edge. Akron has a nice D, it will be a close game, but expect the Laffer-Lay team to pull it out.

Nevada @ Buffalo
- Nevada wins. Buffalo has a nice D, but their O is not figured out yet. If Nevada plays solid with little/no turnovers, they'll have to earn it, but win it in a non-barn-burner.

Marshall @ Kent State
- Marshall wins. Kent State's D may make this a bit closer than expected, but Marshall finds its groove and should win solidly. Possibly crush Kent.

Miami @ Western Kentucky
- W. Kentucky wins. Miami showed it can play, but that's an interstate rivalry. W. Kentucky disappointed losing to Indiana. Could be a bit close, but WKent vents on Miami.

RE: Week 3 Football- It's Gameday
Interesting factoid of the day-

The MWC won their first 2 FBS games of the year on the Friday of Wk1, both vs P5 teams (Hawaii over Colorado, Boise State over Washington). Since then the MWC is 0-21 vs FBS.

Through 3 weeks the MWC is 12-22 overall, 2-21 vs FBS, 10-1 vs FCS.

yikes.

By the looks of it the deepest the MAC has EVER been. Middle to bottom half P5's and high G5's pulling out meager wins vs dirt bottom of the MAC. Shows we might have a slew of teams at 5-6-7 wins???

Looks like we can add a few more here.

Close calls are obviously better than blowouts, but bummer...
