The students SUCK as fans. Horrendous, they have ONE job to do and that is support their peers and school, they haven't sat through 20 years of losing, they have a clean slate! Pathetic, my generation of the late 80's and early 90's were much better fans.

I'm a student at Eastern, the only reason the student section was so big the first game was because going to the game against Old Dominion was part of Eastern's freshman orientation. If Eastern decides to win games the students will come, a lot of students are commuters and I don't really blame them for not wanting to make the commute over to Eastern to watch the football team lose. That being said I'll continue to support my school and go the games and if Eastern starts to win more consistently other students will too.
Good for you soloj...win or lose, students if they aren't working, should absolutely cherish going to their school's games, you're only in your 20's once. You guys are the #1 fans, us alumni and locals just supplement the student fan base.

Different generation, kids today just don't really care, it's an epidemic throughout college football.

Cell phones & social media are having serious negative effects. Studies are showing the addiction of social media, similar to addictive drugs to brain chemistry.

60" HD TV's don't help much either.

Winning will help of course, but the good ole' days of supporting your school and classmates out of simple pride, are gone unfortunately.

There appeared to be about 20 recruits on the sidelines watching warms ups.

Great news! Creighton is a passionate recruiter with a lot of obstacles. Hopefully there were some good defensive prospects that he can sell 'immediate playing time!'
