Big thanks to the Gorgeous Gael for hosting us. They were unable to get the channel outside despite trying their best and re accommodated us indoors despite having ND there.

It was a great turnout. We had over 35 people at one point. Thanks to everyone for coming out and thanks to Peter and The Gorgeous Gael for being so accommodating and coming through with the backup plan when DTV 608 pulled another no-show.

Why don't they have the away games at the stadium in the alumni center, serve food and drinks and make a little money for the Owl Club?

Probably due to lack of interest till date. Plus it is a lot of effort for a small group. The whole Houston watch party culture for all games is relatively new, especially in the numbers that we are seeing now.

A bar works great as all the setup is there. Also the food+beer selection is much bigger than what we would have at Rice most likely.

It may be a good idea for other reasons, and perhaps one day it will be worth doing. But I can tell you this based on a couple of decades of helping to organize Rice events: it is virtually impossible to generate appreciable net revenue on these types of events. They may build goodwill, but they can almost never pay for themselves. People who assume they can invariably underestimate the cost of doing them and overestimate what people are willing to pay to attend.

Make it part of the season ticket package

Kudos to Owl95, Shu, and all others involved. It was a great event. Especially after we were moved inside! I am sure those opting for the watch party instead of the bus next weekend will have a good time at the watch party!
