Just thinking we should thank our lucky stars for McGee bailing on us when he did.

RE: Funny
Should probably thank Steve Patterson, now former Texas AD, who fired Mack Brown and hired Charlie Strong from Louisville who hired Bobby Petrino from Western Kentucky who hired McGee...

I sent an email to Mackin when McGee was hired that I wouldn't mind him hiring Clark or Lance Thompson or someone else who escapes my mind right now.
Would be interesting to think about what may have changed if Clark was hired then.

The BOT actually shot themselves in the foot. Someone on the Board quiet possibly PBJ let it slip to Neil Calloway they were ending the program. Calloway was coaching under Bobby Petrino at Western Kentucky. Petrino found out, told McGee what was going on and offered him the OC job at Louisville. I picked this up by reading between the lines of McGee's tweets that were released last year.

Because that's sound evidence.

As conspiracy theories go, it's a pretty good one. Would not shock me at all, but I don't think anything can anymore.

My only problem with theories about McGee knowing in advance would be that it would require something resembling a brain stem from him, which is a little bit more credit than I can give that guy.

if McGee had won more I'd be more inclined to believe this. I still think it's the case he was tipped off that the program was going to be killed, but I think that his losing records probably contributed.

If you knew McGee...you'd know that the losing records are what would have kept him here. I'm not sure I've ever met a person so strongly under the delusion of his own ego as Garrick McGee. In normal circumstances, he would have had to be forced out of the job. No doubt in my mind he knew something was going on and he got the heck out when he got the chance (possibly even convinced Petrino to give him that chance).

Why he bailed is immaterial (at least to me). The important thing is that he did, because if he hadn't, we're not talking about football right now.

McGee Knew before he left. He admitted it in some text messages last year & when it started getting out that he was talking about it, his "representation asked him not to talk about it."

Is it immaterial if it meant Neil Callaway was the person that convinced him to leave...ultimately making Neil Callaway the savior of UAB Football?
(not saying that is what happened...)

Petrino convinced McGee to leave. Petrino's O Line Coach at WKU was Neil Calloway. Neil Calloway is close friends with some on the BOT. The link is there. McGee even spoke of Calloway being close friends with the members of the BOT in the tweets BlazerHam linked.
It's speculation on my part, but Coaches do talk to one another.
I was pointing out how the BOT sabotaged their own plans unwittingly if my speculation is true. Smaug was pointing out the strange set of events that led Clark to UAB and I expanded on them to make them stranger. Sheez lighten up it's been a good day for UAB fans.

Who you telling to lighten up? My comment that you quoted was more a joke about irony than anything else.
