Here's mine for NIU over Ohio State:
1. If NIU loses by 7 or less: I will buy an NIU sweatshirt & hat online -- and wear either during the WMU vs Ohio State game

2. If NIU loses in OT: Do #1, but wear it all-day the day before & all-day of the WMU vs Ohio State game (I'll still wear a WMU shirt or hat too of course)

3. If NIU wins: Do #2, but also buy self-held raffle-winner 2 tickets to attend the NIU @Boston College game + $200

One needs to be careful when making commitments like this.

It was so much fun, doing the same after the Purdue games (especially to the student section in '09), but you obviously can't really compare the two fan bases when it comes to craziness and team expections. But whatever, I'll take the risk

Yeah, as MD I think said, we would stay til safe, leave together and as a group of 1000.

I will say, less fearful of an OSU crowd as I would be of an SEC, some B12. They don't fall into the S of the Ohio River, 39th parallel west of the MS to Colorado St Line, south along Texas/NM border. They may be nuts about football, but they won't try to kill you because are a Yankee too.

That is a great ad. To be fair, Illinois scheduling NIU would be very difficult right now, as pointed out by NIU's planned schedule. However, I'm sure for a 7 year-timespan, they could work out a deal if Illinois (and NIU) really wanted to. NIU would have to ditch a possibility for a 2020/2021 D1AA game, but it could happen.

I think overall, the fans just don't want it so much. Illini fans don't want to risk a loss, as they'd rather lose to Houston or something... instead of having their siblings nag at them about it, etc.

If NIU beats Ohio State -- like the awesome fake-commercial "If the Red Sox win the world series...", I stand by mine! And I'll STILL root for the MAC West despite my offer to the gods, if it's a 1 possession game and NIU's got the ball with 5m to go!

Definitely, not just because Ohio State fans are any more violent or classless than any other team in college football, but if you were to derail a #1 and in all likelihood championship hopes, you never know what someone will do.

If we beat OSU and I am not dead by the time we get out of the stadium vicinity. I will be guarding my huskie head. (especially bc I turned down $100 for it at fatty's last week). I will be getting trashed in a safe place. Searching this board for tattoo posts. Pestering NIUCoF'12 to then go get a tattoo with me until he gives in. Also, I will be nursing my vocal cords so I can teach on Monday.

But...

I will also go searching for Brandon Saad to figure out why he prefers Columbus over Chicago...or maybe just a ding dong ditch. We will see.

Sarasota Huskie, here's a pic of me in the Huskie hat at the last Poinsettia Bowl. It's not very clear, but the puppies are at the end of those flaps. (That hairy kid next to me is my son.)

Well, I guess you could wear the hat & mittens only as the "dumb sh!t" to do if NIU wins on Saturday. But if so, I would advise NOT shouting "We do it the Hard Way" to go along with it!!

Now, here's a "bet" I think Hare should take on if NIU were to beat Ohio State:

After the game, when interviewed on the field and going to the locker room, and asked how this feels, etc, just being cool and saying:

"I appreciate Ohio State challenging us, and preparing us for the tougher games ahead -- even though I think we could have played better. We have to play on the road to Toledo this season, and at Central which is no easy task. But first and foremost, it helped prepare us for our trip to Boston next week to take on Boston College. I wish Ohio State luck in taking on Western next week. We have to give Ohio State credit for putting up a fight -- playing MAC West teams back to back is no easy task."

I have no clue what I will do on the South Side of Chicago.

That said, if NIU found a way to pull this off, I'd laugh if a mob of students in DeKalb tried to break into Huskie Stadium and go for the goalposts. Or got Olivegoyle and tossed her into the East Lagoon. Or if they "borrowed" a Huskie bus and drove it into the Lagoon.

Either way, something needs to be tossed into the East Lagoon. It's too big of a victory for something not to be done.

Any chance NIU took the $900,000 and bet on themselves to win? I'm sure they took the points.
