Lol, I don't know if either would be interested, but Texas would be fools not to make those calls and throw some Longhorn cash at them.

Agree, Texas tried to hire Jurich B4. He still is here. 04-cheers

Are you always this sensitive and fragile? It's like you can't have a realistic conversation because you are afraid of what is going to be said.

Reminds me of the time you would not acknowledge that the ACC has some issues and just kept posting pics.

The reality is that Louisville is not a destination job for a coach or AD. The revolving door of coaches is proof of this. If they have success they leave immediately. Now you took on someone so toxic that nobody wants to hire him so you should be good for at least a while.

Louisville is a stepping stone type of job.

That is the typical Louisville reaction. The reality of the situation is that Jurcich is going to be looked at by bigger and better schools and one day will likely leave Louisville. They don't' want to think about that so anyone who brings it up will be labeled a "troll" immediately even though common sense says it will happen at some point.

Nah, Wilkie and I have known each other on these boards for a long time and have a pretty good relationship (Right, Wilkie????).

He knows that I am not trolling and I know that he is not labeling me as such.

RE: Looks like Steve Patterson will be fired today
um, interesting:
Sources tell ESPN's Brett McMurphy that Steve Patterson's replacement are Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby, former Texas coach Mack Brown, Louisville AD Tom Jurich and NCAA executive VP Oliver Luck. Jurich and Luck were both involved in Texas' last AD search to replace DeLoss Dodds. One source said the search might not begin until early 2016.

I will never say never, but Jurich is the second most powerful man at the University of Louisville. I think he will retire at Louisville. 04-cheers

my thought is if he's ever going to leave, this would be it.

And VERY interesting that Bowlsby is on that list. What does that say about the Big 12?

I can see Jurich at Texas. At Louisville, he built it well and there isn't much for sports programs or facilities (if anything) that needs fixing at the moment. Jurich's project at Louisville is complete and just needs to be maintained. Texas, however, needs fixing and will present a challenge for him. It all depends on if he wants a new challenge or if he wants to sit in a chair and look out over the empire that he has built. His success tells me that he is the type who would embrace a new challenge.

I was thinking the same thing. We'll take Shaka too

Shaka would shake things up in Champaign but unfortunately for Illini fans, that one won't happen.

Yeah, so it's said.

Of course, what is an athletic director actually supposed to do, title wise? I mean, can we infer he's not bad at the primary functions and that he's out because the "additional functions" of his job, where he's supposed to answer to people who don't really sign his time sheet or contribute to his pension or cut the checks that pay for dinner, *that* was where he got gummed up?

I get the impression Texas' new president isn't doing so hot, either, but, stinky things and currents downstream and whatnot...

If he's interested in a building project, there's a lot of work to be done building a network for the ACC. Swofford isn't going to be in that chair forever - not more than 2-3 years, IMO. Of course, if he were to go to Texas, maybe he could still get a head start on the ACC commish job by bring UT with him. 05-stirthepot

If he wants a network project, he could just rebuild the Longhorn Network.

what is interesting is Bowlsby has those P12 links. This could make Texas to the Pac a lot more likely.

RE: Looks like Steve Patterson will be fired today
I worry for Charlie there now. If given time, he'll turn them around. But that is key. And new AD's like to hire their own peeps.

As far as Jurich goes, I'd be shocked if he left Louisville. For 3 reasons ...

-- He just announced the last expansion for PJCS, and I think he'd see that through. He called is his last big project for the football stadium in his tenure. Fund raising is underway, and once the expansion is completed, he will have 'one-upped' big bro UK with the largest football stadium in the state.

-- He wants to see the programs he helped create win now (Women's hoops has played in two NCAA finals; men's soccer in one NCAA final; baseball been to Omaha 3 times) there's something to be said for watching the seeds you planted bear fruit.

-- But MOST importantly, Tom's son Mark is working his way up through the Athletic Department Administration, and it is clear that TJ is grooming him for bigger things. I seriously think he wants to step down when Mark can easily step in and take over .. .which to me means TJ retires her in another 10 years when Mark can do that. Mark is currently the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development. And well on his way to being able to do that.

TJ will work for another 10 years, and hang it up, probably passing the baton on to his son, a U of L alum.

Now ... having said all that ... I guess it's not IMPOSSIBLE he'd leave for Texas. But I'd be pretty shocked.

Not sure they will give up the Longhorns Network which would be a deal killer, and with Oklahoma pissed at Texas right now? I do not think a Texhoma to the PAC will not work out. The train wreck in the Big 12 will follow to the PAC 12.
