Wow.

I knew that it was going to be a tough go but can't believe it happened this quickly. Keeping DeLoss around campus as an advisor was a surefire way to cause problems for the new AD. Wonder if he will be the interim AD.

It's been fun watching Texas fail but the conference needs them to get their crap together.

he just had no inter-personal skills. And that killed him.

That would be amazingly reactionary for the folks on the 40 Acres. It takes time to build these programs and such a termination would signal a revolving door type environment that will make it difficult to attract talented people.

Well he still gets his guaranteed 6 mil so there is that. Just add it to the money they still owe Dodds and Mack Brown.

New guy might have to raise tickets prices and charge visiting bands for their tickets and...uh oh. I think I see a vicious cycle brewing!

Yes. Talks have been going on for a while now

They should have hired that guy from West Virginia. Maybe they will go after him now again. I think he works for the NCAA right now.

I think it is indicative of the very deep problems at Texas right now. But, on a somewhat positive note, not for those who enjoy watching Texas drown, this could be step one in righting the ship.

Oliver Luck?

Perhaps I am wrong, but I don't see why the guy would take the job. He basically has zero pressure with his NCAA gig and the pay is decent. Plus he is living in Indy where his son is playing in the NFL on Sundays.

Texas is one of the best coaching jobs in America....not many coaches will turn that down.

My money is on Mack Brown.

He can get away with all the price jacking that Patterson was forced to do but the alumni will take it better coming from him and his used car salesman skills.

Its a good job for sure, but lets also not pretend Charlie was their 1st choice. he was more like their 4th/5th choice after several people said "no thank you but thanks for the raise the offer is getting me"

Plus only two years is virtually unheard of will scare away some applicants as a job where even as HC, the expectations are just too high.

Texas maybe the best coaching job in America....not many coaches will turn that down.

Based off what exactly?

I doubt they are even in the top 10 at this point. The entire situation is Toxic with the likelihood of killing your career like Patterson and Strong have done. Who wants to step into that situation?

If you ask CS if you could go back and just stay at Louisville I bet his answer would have been yes. The money is still good at other programs and with a less demanding expectations and less political poo to step in they are simply better situations.

I doubt UT could take a coach from a Big 12 school unless it's' ISU or KU. My how things have changed.

This ^^^^

They likely have a list of candidates and the first 2 pages are not even interested in UT.

Thus they ended up taking an AAC coach.

Texas is the #1 job in college football. Don't be so crazy people. It isn't about the current standing of teams, its about all of the other stuff - money, access to elite talent in the back yard, tradition, etc, etc, etc.

Now I wonder if Oliver Luck will find a job at an embattled NCAA more enticing than being Texas AD.
