Iowa State Fans a Little more Modest Than Arkansas
Their fans are nervous. Mixed feelins on their board. A lot think they will be lucky to come away with a win. Some think the spread should be more than the -7.5 we are at. Others think their 'B' game will be enough to take a win from us.

More fans thoughts on Toledo.

"I have no idea what some of you are smoking. What have you seen this year, or in the past 5 years, that makes you think we can go on the road against an above average team and win? I'm fully expecting a loss, I just hope it's not a beat down."

Thats the reaction of every fan base at a 7.5 point spread. When we are underdogs to NIU some think we will beat them, others stay pessimistic. Lots are mad about playing at Toledo, others understand its what you have to do to fill the schedule.

The overall mood points to "this is where 7 years of this coach has gotten us?"

We are 1-2 against the Cyclones, and by all rights, could easily be 3-0 against ISU...

RE: Iowa State Fans a Little more Modest Than Arkansas
I'm a bit thrown off by their fans there on their boards.... Complaining about how bad their offense has started the season yet still thinking they should be favorites. They are also confused on the Hunt situation, or maybe just hopeful that he's not playing (he obviously is.) Some of them have seen our game against the hogs and are pretty realistic about their chances to come win at the glass bowl and others are bitching about having to play on the road at a MAC program AND being underdogs at the same time. I would bet on the spread if it were a two TD difference let alone this 6-7 points we are seeing now.
Anyone know the over/under?

True, and could easily be 0-3 just the same. The one we won in '07 was probably the one we most deserved to lose, and needed an absolute ISU meltdown in the final 3 minutes to pull it off, with a long kickoff return for a TD, a bad snap to punter/fumble recovery for a TD, and a blocked FG as time expired.

also why do the cyclones think the have a better offense than ark? they CANNOT run the ball, at all, and Brandon Allen is the number 5 passer in the nation...

Well, we contributed mightily to Allen's numbers and Ark couldn't run either so comparisons will be difficult until ISU has the chance to test our pass defense. Here's hoping their QB isn't in the Top Five after Saturday.

...and Richardson torched UTs secondary last year, especially in the second half. He and his WRs scare me. Need to get pressure upfront to help out the secondary.

Why are you people giving Iowa State so much credit? They won 2 games last year, one against us, our QB's were hurt and Hunt didn't play. Iowa State will probably only win 2 games this year, but their other win won't be against us. I hope all you people watched how our defense played against Arkansas last week. We were very good last week, and we will be better this week.

I'd hardly say it's giving them too much credit to say they may have a better offense than Arkansas. And it's a fact that Srkansas's QB is Top 5 because of the yards he got against us. Those yards raised his aversage considerably. No reason to think we won't give up yards to ISU's guy. No one knows if our D will be better or not.

Thank you I needed to hear that

So much credit? I said they have a good passing game, which they do and that scares me. Their QB is good and he has a couple of good WRs. Their O-Line has given up some sacks, hence my reference to UT needing to be able to get some pressure up front.

I was at the game in Ames last year and watched ISU throw the ball all over UT in the second half. In fact I have been to all 3 UT/ISU games, all 3 have been very competitive. UT & ISU are very similar when it comes to talent level, IMHO. I am a little surprised UT is favored by 7-7.5 points. Do I think UT will win? Yes. Do I think it will be close? Yes. I would think more of a 3-4 point spread, but maybe I am wrong, who knows.

So ISU can't run the ball, good. It makes them one dimensional, good. Whose to say they don't come out and try and throw the ball 60 times? That scares me. I do believe UTs D is improved, but that doesn't mean I can't respect another teams weapons. It will be nice to have Cov back, and ISU has only seen Hunt on tape. ISU has a couple of studs up front on their D-Line. Should be a good game and hopefully a Rocket victory.
