Exclamation Must be some wagering on RICE v WHORNS!!
01-ncaabbs Line opened at 15 1/2 and has since dropped to 14 1/2. I wonder when the line has been that low when we played in Austin in the last 50 years? 01-wingedeagle

RE: Must be some wagering on RICE v WHORNS!!
01-wingedeagle I am actually pleasantly surprised that the title of this post didn't get edited by the THOUGHT POLICE, since they didn't like the use of the alleged derogatory term, "COOGROIDS" that I used in a previous post title. I also frequently use the term "AGROIDS" neither one of which has any connection to the pejorative that they accused me of alluding to.... 03-banghead

Thought police aside, I wouldn't advise using either of those two terms, ever again.

There are too many bona fide overt racists that post on message boards, including this one (specifically the "spin room").

Or, maybe I am the thought police?

What did that great philosopher of our generation, Dylan [Bob], say? 01-wingedeagle

"In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand at the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy in the instant that I preach
My existence led by confusion boats, mutiny from stern to bow
Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now" 04-bow

Vegas seldom loses money. The line is set to attract equal amounts of money to both sides, not to reflect the strengths of the two teams. When the line was 15-1/2, obviously more people were betting Rice than Texas. So the line dropped.

If Vegas loses--or makes--money depending upon the outcome of any game, then they screwed up. They should never care who wins, just like a horse race track should never care which horse wins.

Of course, that is theoretically true; but sometimes, late betting does not allow the book to be "balanced." And certainly individual "private sector / local" bookies can lose EVERYTHING due to their inability to balance their specific book prior to kickoff... Take it from me, I have personal experience with this calamitous phenomenon!! 03-nutkick My son was a very successful bookmaker with an under-capitalized backer; leading to disaster in one NFL weekend.... Not for him so much as for his backer, who had to flee town... 03-lmfao
