He meets criteria for medical redshirt. Hoping he can make a full recovery and get back on track for his life goals. Several fan bases have been very kind to Leon, including a tweet from Marshall's head coach and La Tech's Nick Thomason. #Classy

So far Ferby has done a good job of filling in but we need to get Ace Wales back too. Hate this happened to Leon in his senior season.

2 consecutive knee surgeries ended my glory days of football. I fully understand the severity of knee injuries and hope he can come back. Good luck to him!

It's always sad to see something like that happen. I hope he has a full recovery and can go on playing at that time.

Hope he can fully recover and get the redshirt if he wants to. 3rd in a line of great back here at WKU after Rainey and Andrews. Big shoes to fill for the other guys.

I think we all knew this would be the outcome after seeing it live, really hate it for Leon and I'm sure he will be talking up our freshman replacement. I bet when DeAndre Ferby signed up with WKU he never expected to have to be THE MAN at running back.

I think he expected to be the man, might not have thought it was going to happen this soon.

Here is what he had to say about being the new starting RB
Quote:"This is what you come to college football to do," he said. "I ain't come here to be Big Red or nothing like that."

Oh I know. I'm 38 now and already have issues now and then. It sucks. I'm sure I'll need a knee replacement eventually.

RE: Official: WKU's Leon Allen out rest of season
We desperately need Ace Wales back to gives us some speed to compliment Ferby's Thunder..Ferby is a north south runner who I think will be solid, we just need another guy who is faster to combine with Ferby to come close to duplicating Allen's production..Brohm may have to get creative here to come up with a plan rest of the season, will be interesting to see how this effects play calling down the road....It sucks but we all knew as soon as it happened, his season was over, I just hope his career is not over and he can come back...

Will be interesting to see what he decides to do after the season, but wouldn't hold it against him to jump to the NFL if he feels his knee is ready to go by then...

Uh..what? Are we talking about the same guy? His three arrests, being tazed by police, etc. just scream head on straight. Right.

But he is fun to watch. I will give him that, and I hate he got injured like that. Hopefully, he can make a full recovery, stay out of the slammer and get an extra year. Even if they are western losers I hate to see young men have their careers end in that way. It's also much more satisfying to beat that red blob at full strength so we don't have to listen to the excuses. 04-chairshot

Reading for comprehension. Do they teach that down in the boro?

That was Ferby who said that. CajunFanatico was commenting on Ferby.

I split my kneecap in half and stretched some ligaments after a direct knee to helmet blow playing High School ball. I'm 53 and hiked 80 miles on the Appalachian Trial this summer, my knee barked with every step...you're right it sucks...
