RE: Big East BB is 1 of 6 Major Conferences; AAC is Mid-Major
Just think how strong the American will become in hoops after UCF and Houston leave for the Big 12 . . .

In basketball, last year, yes. All sports overall... there's no contest.
Yup, Villanova, Georgetown and Providence all finished well above USF, the AAC champ, in last year's Director's Cup. Starting out well this year too, with Creighton being ranked number 1 in soccer, and two others being ranked. None for the AAC. Each conference has one women's soccer team ranked. BE has a couple teams receiving votes in the volleyball poll, none for the AAC. 3 BE teams in the men's cross country poll (none for the AAC) and 2 in the top 10 in the women's poll (again, none for the AAC). Of course, the BE has no football teams ranked in the top 25, but neither does the AAC. BTW, UConn is ranked number 1 in field hockey. But unfortunately, UConn plays field hockey in the Big East. Go figure.
Lol @ the directors cup. Only 4 sports matter: football, men's basketball, baseball and women's nasketball.
Nobody gives 2 ***** about any of the rest except maybe the few Yankees that follow college lacrosse or hockey.

Golf (PGA) and Track (Olympics) are the only minor sports worth caring about since alums can bring glory to the school for many years to come.

Some of the least significant football games will be on TV tomorrow drawing more eyeballs than NBE premier games. Football is where it's at. They're not even an afterthought this time of year. So they finish slightly ahead in RPI. Where did their teams finish post season? It all pales in comparison to football TV appeal. 3 weeks in march is the only window of basketball to shine and then the cinderellas have to go back to cleaning their step sister's room.
I agree with both of you that football is king, but for the schools in the Big East, football was never part of the equation. For those 10 schools, the NBE is probably the greatest possible home.
The only thing holding the nBE together is Georgetown.
If the basketball only schools didn't like being pressure by the football programs before perhaps they prefer the pressure by ONE program instead.
Georgetown walks and the nBigEast is toast. IMHO
If UCONN left the American you would be irrelevant in football and basketball IMHO.

How is that? You need to review who the members of the American Conference actually are before throwing out comments like that one. Seriously!

The rule of thumb here... the bottom of the league has to improve their strength of schedule... (in most sports for that matter)... or the perception will continually be the conference isn't the big time.

I needed this good laugh from this Creighton fan this morning. Thank you for that sir. However, when has Creighton ever been relevant? The NBE teams haven't won a title since the Reagan years, and you're talking about relevance.
You're making a fool of yourself son.
Temple got more from beating Penn State in football last week than your entire basketball conference got from your regular season last year.
That's how important football is. That's how important basketball post season is.
By the way, what channel did Temple do that on (last week). Whose logo were they splashing across the screen throughout.
Where the hell is the NBE??? By the way, you bought that name. You didn't do **** for that name.

We would certainly take a step back in basketball. I'm not sure why you think that we would be irrelevant in football if any single member left; or any 2 members for that member.
I'm assuming that you just came by to blow off steam based on a pattern of previous comments because there is simply no reason to think that even a member as strong as UConn leaving could have a dramatic impact on football.
