That's right. Guys are sitting in a Fox studio in LA doing play-by-play of a game being played in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

I'll bet those sideline interviews will be a real challenge.

I thought it seemed a bit "off". If that's what it takes to get more G5 games on national television I am all for it. With that said, the play by play seems to be a hair behind and less descriptive as far as penalties and other on field action. Color guy you would never know.

That is both cheap and low-quality.

Cheap: how much does it cost to fly 2 guys into Nashville, rent a car for a drive to Bowling Green, KY ... 3 nights at a hotel and all the incidentals? $5,000 tops?

Low-quality: I can tell, the commentary just isn't as good as it would be with somebody there live. The players deserve a bit better too. This is one of the rare times they are the only college football game on TV, it's probably a tape they'd like to keep as they get older, but it's a lower-quality TV broadcast they'll be getting.

You make a good point about the players.

FS1 is reportedly doing the same thing on Friday night, for the Miami at FAU telecast.

I only watched a few minutes tonight, but it had the same feel as watching NFL Red Zone where the guy in the studio narrates the action. Except, of course, that FS1 was not switching around through six games at once.

It really can't cost that much to fly two guys in. They already have the camera and sound setup.

LOL at people thinking that the players matter to the people that run the show.

They suck as well announcing. At less ESPN was much better. I remember Dr. Jerry Punch go to these G5 and FCS games in the past. ESPN was not prejudice against the lower guys.

Honestly I didn't think it was too bad, and if the crew had been at the game they wouldn't have been any better.

I didn't watch the entire game but at least the parts I did watch they were talking about the game on the field rather than constantly going down on Ohio State and the SEC West.

Honestly who cares if they are a second behind the play on the field? Do you need someone to tell you what you are seeing?

This is an annoying trend in soccer, too. It just didn't have the same feel. It sounded like Petros' heart was just not into it.

Why wouldn't Petros not have his heart into it? He was there!

Did I write Petros? Freudian slip. I meant Wannstache. He sounded muted.

He wouldn't have had his heart into it if he were there. That entire crew could have screwed up calling a Super Bowl.

Maybe they couldn't find a crew who wanted to go to the-middle-of-nowhere Kentucky... That's "Deliverance" type country out there.
