3,800 Seats Left for the Temple Game
Per the Enquirer at 1302 today.

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/c.../72006688/

I'm sure they're all in the first six rows and no one will want them anyway.

Some permanent FC Cincinnati bleacher banners could fix that.

Well good news is, they will have some walk up business for the game. Bet we hit 37 or 38K for this one.

Still more than the old Nip held!

Mid 60's and no rain predicted. Oh, wait...

If forecasters get the weather right this time, it will be a perfect day for football.

This is a big game. No excuse for anything but a sellout.

Just sell more student tickets.

Have to think at least half of those 3800 hundred tickets would be scooped up when it is all said and done. That would put attendance right around 38,000. To put it in perspective that would be 2,000 more than our second largest announced crowd in history.

Probably some of these are unsold returns from Temple. We'll be close to a sellout.

And probably $750k more at the gate!

That's a nice number, but how did you come up with that?

Flawed math probably. 1100 club seats at 415 a game and like 20 luxury boxes at 16k a game. If my prices and new addition numbers are correct I should be pretty close I would imagine.

RE: 3,800 Seats Left for the Temple Game
No, that makes sense.

I was just doing a quick division of $750,000/5,000 extra seats for the new addition and that's $150 a seat and trying to understand. Seems like it could be more per seat if club seats are that expensive. Stands to reason luxury boxes would be even more.

You know, I look at your number of 1,100 club seats and try to figure out how UC got to 40,000 with the new addition. I know it's about revenue not number of seats, but I still question the oft-cited 40,000 number.

I also question the 40k number. I don't see anyway that we added more than maybe 2k seats. I figure maybe we are using that Pitt attendance math were all so fond of.

To add to that a little - many of us have been in Nippert when it was packed and the announced attendance was 35,097 - the stated capacity. Perhaps UC was actually over the stated capacity a few times but could not announce it that way.

Maybe the corp community can buy those tickets. They always bail out the Bungles to get a sellout.

The only reason that occurred was so the game would be on TV. UC will be on TV whether they sellout or not. Nothing to gain for the corporate buyout.

That was to protect their advertising, since an NFL game had the black out rule, they lost key advertising if the game was blacked out. Was in their best interests to make sure the game was a sell out.

That rule is now gone, so those days are probably over for the Bengals as well.

They can gain my undying love and support, instead of my disdain and general ambivalence. Support students athletes vs millionaires. Support local educational institution vs corp bailout.

The difference is standing room only. We only had 35K seats but over 36K at a couple games. The increased efficiency of circulation and flow has probably allowed the Fire Marshall to allow more people in the facility. I think actual added seats are only around 2,000, maybe 2,500. So Nippert Stadium can hold 40,000 people, but only around 37-38K will be able to sit down.
