Glad to hear that. Now if we can get some of the old Big 8/12 rivalries renewed. Would love to see OU-Neb, KU-MU, and UT-A&M every year as well.

Looks like ND and Michigan are trying to schedule games in the future also.

Can't wait for those 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Why the delay?

I know that we have our hands full with the awesome and storied rivalry that is the "Civil ConFLiCT" with UCF, but getting UConn-Rutgers scheduled again would be great for northeastern football fans in the tri-state area.

both teams adjusting to new conferences, existing out of conference contracts, ect. Pitt not being able to play ND as much as they are used to in the coming future probably helped too.

Agreed. I had heard rumblings at a few points, but nothing has come to fruition thus far.

Really? We just had near 5 straight years of realignment.

Pitt should play Penn State and West Virginia every single year. At one time, those games were college football in the Northeast.

I'm assuming the basketball series will resume as well

Jackson, the holdup on the basketball series is Jamie Dixon, not the AD.

WVU and Pitt both recently replaced their ADs, which probably indicates the direction those old rivals need to take before they'll be able to renew those old rivalries.

Fresh blood can often invigorate things.

Jamie doesn't like having things thrown at himself and the Pitt bench during games.

I love all these games coming back and am happy to hear of them scheduled.

That said, very small chance of any of these announced series (Pitt/West Virginia, Penn State/Pitt, Nebraska/Oklahoma) or unannounced ones to become annual again. Most modern scheduling realities simply don't push for annual out of conference games, especially after you get to 9 conference games. The existing ones should be OK (especially since outside of the Notre Dame vs. UCS/Stanford we're talking about ones involving teams with 8 conference games), but the rest will probably have to hope for, at best, to be regular series (maybe 4 times in 10 years).

I favor the return of the basketball series as well. However, the last time Pitt played at West Virginia one of the Panthers' assistant coaches got hit in the face with a coin thrown from the crowd. That's the type of stuff that simply cannot happen and has been all too common in games played in Morgantown.

I think Pitt/WVU could potentially be annual or close to it as long as the ACC stays at 8 games.
