welcome to 2013
saw this on the twitter from wku football:

Quote:@WKUFootball: Welcome to 2013 on The Hill.

First the Cats, now the Raiders.

i honestly had no idea. i remember when we came out with them they weren't universally loved. but they seem to be catching on. somewhat.

not new at Middle Tennessee, don't know what the big deal is. Here they are in use against Southern Miss, last season I think.

MT has six or seven different color helmets they use.

i agree. that was when willie taggart got here. he liked the clean look that stanford wore when he was there with harbaugh.

but i like the ones russell has been giving us lately also. it was petrino that started with the chrome helmets and then we kept them last year under coach brohm. it never would have been my first choice but i do like them now.

Pretty sure Oregon had Chrome Domes first. A quick google search shows they debuted chrome helmets at the spring game in 2013.

i had never seen anyone in our conference in them before. and your MTSU_Equipment is the group that tweeted it out. and mentioned WKU in the tweet.

i'm not sure it IS a big deal. but your guys tweeted it out. maybe a slow tuesday for them. did you wear them last weekend?

I guess it depends on when their spring game took place.

I honestly don't care who had what first ...

unless it's who has their first CUSA conference championship the quickest...then it matters.

But here's a story on WKU's Chrome Helmets

Upon further review, Oregon wore them in January of 2012 at the rose bowl.

It's pretty interesting stuff honestly.

I'm pretty sure the western reference means we will be wearing them in that game. @mt_equip likes to drop hints about upcoming unis. Since about 30 teams(including us)have had chrome helmets for serveral years I don't think they are paying homage to wku being trendsetters. Personally chrome lids is one of my least favorite looks.

I really wish MT and Western would come to an agreement on wearing red and blue unis for every game, regardless of who is home/away. We did that a few years back I think - maybe a couple of times. I thought it was cool.

If we both wear chrome will anyone be able to see the game?

UTEP went with its old UTEP logo on them instead of the Miner Pete. So I guess in a way we have new ones. LOL

At least we're not wearing leather helmets anymore. As for unis we're not known as trendsetters.
