ALMOST beating BYU is a cause for Hope at Nebraska!
Nebraska playing close to BYU = NU can win their side of the B1G

from Big Red Today:

courtesy of Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples:

“The Cornhuskers played BYU much closer than expected, and if not for a fluky play would have won. BYU is as good or better than the rest of the teams in the Big Ten’s West Division. If the Cornhuskers can play with the Cougars, they can play with the teams they need to beat to get to Indianapolis.” ....

I was thinking about this over the weekend. We beat BYU and now they're beating Nebraska in Lincoln. No guarantee that we would do the same, but it sure is nice just to be competitive and mentioned in the same breath with brand name programs.

How long has Nebraska's coach been there ? Is this his second year?

That was his first game at Nebraska. That was also the Huskers 1st loss at home on opening day in (I think) 27 years.

There's already talk of replacing him.

Saw a few highlights from that game.

The BYU players acted just as poorly in Lincoln as they did in Miami before they continued it just after the game and properly had their pasty asses kicked for their trouble.

Self congratulatory motions. Preening. Barking at opponents. Taunting opponents. Man are they paragons.

I am old enough in life to know that even though they were a fairly mundane opponent last year, they did carry some misplaced cache, which means watching our kids literally storm that ass will remain.

The Miami beach bowl game announcers kept referring to the byu players acting "chippy".

We've got another word for it in the south.

Also, if they're so proud of playing BYU close, and can contend in their division, we are really, truly, not far from that level. In fact, if 10 west is that vulnerable, we could certainly win it.
