I've heard the estimates are somewhere around 70% male. As you note, mostly young males.

If it comes to it, and we're bound and determined to take some of these "refugees" onto American soil, I say fine.

We've got a quite nice, well protected and secure spot right on the lovely beach for them. Put up some damn tents at Gitmo and let them run it themselves. Then we can give it back to Raul...

70% young, healthy males. Sounds more like an invasion than humanitarian crisis.

Having family who fled an area with a civil war, I guess I don't take such things so lightly.

Just seems unlikely to me that 70% of those fleeing happen to be single men. Is the male to female ratio in Syria that high and are children not fleeing as well?

Nothing unique there, lot's of us have had family that either fled or lost everything in civil war.

Why is it largely young adult males? Where are their wives, mothers, sisters, daughters? Fathers, older uncles etc? Innocent kids, you'd think they'd be first and foremost to get to safety of some sort.

Are they all too frail? Are they staying behind to fight the fight? Or are they not exactly who they want sent out to migrate to these other countries?

Something doesn't seem slightly amiss here to you?

How long has the Syrian civil war been going on , 4-5 years now? Why all of a sudden now this mass exodus?

RE: Muslim Illegals complain over poor (FREE) living conditions in Italy
So I did a little looking this morning and found an article about Syrian women refugees. Apparently, about 145,000 of them have fled Syria to Eqypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq and are now the sole providers for their family. (Is Iraq really any better since ISIS is running rampant there too?) It's interesting to me that the women remained in Muslim nations while the men are being relocated to Europe and the US. It's also strange to me that we hear about difficulties the men face, yet I had to dig back and find an article from 3 months ago talking about women and children.
