We will not beat them as bad as Illinois beat us and it won't be a nail biter. Somewhere in between. I will say 27-13.

Honestly, would any result against Delaware State provide hope? It won't for me. No matter the outcome, this game will not prove to me we can compete with anyone in conference.

For me, the hope would come from the players making some positive plays and building confidence for the rest of the season. If the false starts, holds, interceptions, and other miscues continue, it will barely matter if we win because the rest of the season will be a disaster.

RE: Week 2 - Delaware St @ KSU
We should easily beat Delaware State. They are a bad team in an FCS kind of way. Our only victory so far is no one was hurt in the embarrassing loss last week.
Putting this team away early and getting our depth playing time this week is the goal.
I read all of the thread from last week but I really feel that if we had played that game on Friday night and not on Saturday afternoon we would be feeling much better about this team and the program.
And personally, The games only matter starting October 3rd. When we begin MAC play.

Kent should beat Delaware St. They should be just as ticked at themselves after week 1.

Delaware State: 13
Kent State: 24

I don't think there will be a good turnout with the threat of rain.

Flashes 36 Delaware St 6 at the half. April Goss scores an XP and gets carried off the field and is greeted by President Warren on the sideline.

Bollas is not taking advantage of his opportunity to impress. Too indecisive. Gotta throw the ball dude.

I'm not impressed. Running up the score against Delaware State is not going to make me feel like we're going to compete for a bowl bid. Still a lot of mistakes. Too much of the usual stuff. We're going to have a tough time against the MAC.

RE: Week 2 - Delaware St @ KSU
Good bounce back. Penalties and fumbles were a problem. I'm sure the weather contributed to the fumbles but that's still no excuse for coughing it up 7 times. I really don't know how to feel about the offense after this one. Yes, we put up 45 points (6 from a defensive TD) and could've had a lot more had we not pulled the starters but a lot of that has to be credited to the dominate performance by the defense tonight. Our D didn't allow their team to stay on the field and gave our offense great starting field position all night. They essentially pitched a shut out and held Delaware St. to a jaw-dropping -33 yards of offense. If the defense can play like this we're going to be in games all year. The next two games are going to be very tough. If we could find a way to win one of them then I'll feel pretty good about where we are heading into MAC play.

Some individual comments. Kris White is a nice receiver. Hope we feed him this year. Durham looked pretty good tonight. I'd like to see us try to give him 10-15 carries a game. Antwan Dixon is a shifty little runner. Watching him weave through traffic on that early TD brought back memories of another #1. Reardon looked good tonight but needs to hold on to the ball. Bollas looked good early but that did not last. Needs to trust his RB's on the option more. Terrence Waugh is causing havoc right now. In two games he's already matched his sack total for his first two seasons at Kent. Lastly props to April Goss becoming the 2nd woman to score a point in a D1 game.

Yes Delaware State state is FCS and not a good one this year but remember we do not tend to dominate in any games so doing so is a step forward in its own way. I am glad that the coach has stated that the win is a good thing but we need to work on turnovers. Hopefully this will get us into a better state of mind to play Minnesota.

I would just say that we are a championship team OR Delaware St is the worst team to ever play in the Dix. I tend to believe the latter.
