Thanks for the link. I know that's not a expansion article per se but If / When the BXII does fall apart we could very well find ourselves in a much better conference, with better national appeal and a much better TV contract. Texas and Oklahoma would be elsewhere but a majority of the BXII remainder could be left behind. It's possible considerin the considerable advances we've made across the board. I can see this in a few years if a couple of majors in the BXII bolt ->
OK State
Baylor
TCU
Texas Tech
ISU
Kansas State
WV
Memphis
Cincinnati
Houston
UCF
BYU
I can see that too - that's a good, balanced league that would remain a "Power" conference.
True, and there's no reason we can't be in that mix. We have an excellent top 10 college football TV market, a top 50 TV market overall, an excellent new recruiting region, excellent geographic fit, recent major investments in sports facilities, a rising and good football and historically good basketball program, a president who understands importance of and supports university athletics ... yep I think we're well positioned. :)
Just need to get our football attendance up and we're at least as desirable as any other g5 program. Better than most.

Where do we sign? That would be a very solid all-sports conference with good TV appeal ($$$).

Utah, Louisville, Boise State and Cincinnati didn't have the same loser mentality after losing coaches.
Most of them are the primary school in their state and the ones who are not do not have to go head to head with 14 SEC schools for every good area player. Apples and Oranges
Define most.
Half... Almost most...
Add Arkansas State to that list.
I'll give him Boise. Cincy is an obvious no. Despite their success, UL is not the primary school in the state of Kentucky. BYU draws better than Utah. That one is debatable at best.

On top of that, Cincy has to go head to head with the SEC and Big Ten. UL has to go head to head with ACC, SEC and Big Ten.

Maybe, but it'll ALL be "former money" if we don't invest in football NOW. Not many tomorrows left. Miss the last ride to a better payday and it's a slow death for basketball and all IMO.

Great.
We had 46k for last year's opener? 40 k sold as of Thursday...we may top that. Man to start 3-0, which would mean two straight road wins...plenty of marketing for next home game...50K plus.
Drop to either Kansas or BGreen....erp. Remember, we have a painfully, incredibly painfully fickle what have you done for me in the last five minute fanbase.

Yes, if there is such a thing as "mass bi-polar" like there is "mass hysteria", then our community is likely an excellent example.

Let's get those new facilities in South Campus built, along with the land bridge and new Student Center, music center and bio science building.
Our school is changing from an infrastructure, perception, performance, and ranking perspective in both academics and athletics. Go Tigers!!

This board has parsed this numerous times and that's a great mix for a new conference. We can always debate the exact mix of teams.
I'm a strong advocate of Kansas to the SEC along with Land Thieves. OU is a football big fish and Kansas in Basketball. They allow Mizzou moving back west and shifting Bama and AU east. OU allows it for football for balance and Kansas allows moving basketball back to division play to balance out Kentucky and gives the west their Vandy in Football.
The only problem with the new conference is that it's still west heavy. What would be a divisional breakdown of those teams?
Only 4 of the 12 are east of the River and there's a void of LA, AR and MO. Separating them as well.
You stopped at 12, I'd go for 16 with ECU and USF right off the bat, go for a Louisiana school like Tulane mainly for location and the other out of Southern Miss, Marshall, Dayton, Western Kentucky(surprisingly good facilities) and the like.

Nice statistics about our market! The campus has never looked better with blue U of M banners surrounding the entire main and south campus and our football program and athletics are on the move! Go Tigers GO! I have not visited since the Houston football game last year and I was very impressed.
