I thought they did a great job.
Music (loud speaker) was frequent
Extended ribbon boards flit up the stadium more
Enjoyed the fireworks (I think they missed the last touchdown)
1965 team honor. The members all in attendance looked pretty good considering they are all in their early 70s.
Never left my seat, but so a few people with beers. Not sure many knew this was available.
Like our budget, the band appears to be shrinking? At least it's not the Huskies marching duet.

RE: Game Experience
At least we report real numbers of people. The East side looked good, except for the bleachers on the ends.
I don't know if it's an NIU thing, but they need to get the refs some microphones that work. Seems like it's always happening that you can't hear the refs.

RE: Game Experience
I know it was the first game but I wonder if the attendance had anything to do with increase in walk up ticket prices. I've heard a lot of negative comments from people. Student side was great!! Also A holiday weekend probably didn't help either.

RE: Game Experience
Yea with all tickets being $42 on the west side, I think that will hurt attendance. Some people probably won't come back. It's a lot of money for people that are used to going to 1-2 games. I'm sure the plan is to get people to buy season tickets, but I wonder how many people typically go to more than a couple games a year, especially with the last couple games being on weekday nights in November. Outside of that the season tickets would be considered a bargain.
It was a nice night for football. I didn't buy any concessions so I don't know how that went. My sister and her husband who live in DeKalb went and they said they had a good time. I still prefer the cannon over the fireworks. I like the little doghouse for Mission in the north endzone.
It looked like someone in the south endzone tent area almost got hit by a football during FG practice.

I left my seat a couple times to get concessions and never saw beer for sale. I am not sure where it was being sold.

It definitely was one of louder games that I have been at. Plus the crowd was into the game and standing and cheering at the right times.

RE: Game Experience
One other point - in the past Lukolos sold beer nuggets outside the stadium and then also in the stadium. I spoke to the owner of Lukolos and she is not planning to sell them this year. By her explanation it seemed that it was too big of a hassle to see them at the stadium due to the equipment involved because the volume she has sold in the past. This did not make sense to me because it you have that volume it is like printing money. However, she did not seem interested.

It sure felt like a 20,000 crowd. The crowd was into the game and I felt a ton of energy, more than usual. Had a great time

Sounds like she's trying to tell you she didn't sell enough volume in the past to make it profitable. If it was a money-maker, she'd be selling beer nuggets at HS.

Dang, i've never seen beer nuggets sold in the stadium, or I would have bought some. Can't blame the owner if it wasn't worth it for them though.

I felt like I went to a football game and a rap concert broke out. Can't the band be given more opportunities to play?

RE: Game Experience
It was my first game in 2 or 3 years.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience. My only complaints:
Dip n' Dots stand had a sign that said it accepted Visa MasterCard etc. After waiting in line for 10 minutes, I was told that they don't accept cards.
Ticket booth opened at 330. I was there at 3:10, so maybe I was a little early.
Fireworks were cool, but definitely not the same as the cannon. It could be cooler if they launched 2 more loud bangs. (There were 2 bangs after each touchdown)
The location of Mission's Dog House was near Chessik Center. With the fireworks going off near him, it definitely spooked him 1 or 2 times. I think they started to realize that thry need to wait a minute after the TD to have him run out.

RE: Game Experience
My game day experience/general thoughts:
-Tailgating scene was strong. We parked in the convo lot, which was lively and loud. Good vibes while tailgating.
-New turf looks great! Beautiful field. With the new ribbon boards, new turf, indoor, new (last year) video board the overall appearance of Huskie Stadium is big time. The stadium is the perfect size for our program, we just need to fill it! West Side needs to step it up! I look forward to the continual rehab and improvements of HS going forward.
-I liked the newer music selection. I was on the East side and some of the popular songs really engaged the students. Rather than getting on their phones while the band plays they were genuinely having a good time with some of the song collection.
-We need to do the RED-BLACK chant back at the next game and every home game since. That’s a solid chant that energizes the crowd/team.
-Fireworks were awesome.
-East side brought the energy. I can’t speak for everyone because I’m a crazy 25 year old diehard, but I was going nuts on big third downs and other key plays. Overall, the east side was pretty rowdy and pretty full. Could have used more students/fans in the corners but hey. Those who were there did their job.
-West side needs to be full. Simple as that. I know it was a holiday weekend and many folks were on the road, but there is no excuse for all the empty seats. SUPPORT NIU!
-Overall, I thought the game day experience was significantly improved and I look forward to more improvements.
-No reason we shouldn’t fill the stadium next saturday. Home game at 2:30 on a fall saturday. Get your wife, get your kids, get your friends, and get on over to Huskie Stadium!

That is the exact opposite of what she was saying. She was saying she had so much volume in the past that she could not keep up with the volume. In the past they made the nuggets at their store and drove them over. They could not keep up with demand so they received a lot of criticism. Thus to avoid that criticism she would need to bring the equipment and she did not want to bother with it.
When I said the demand was strong and she could charge a premium - she agreed but she just didn't want to bother. that was her bottom line
