OT: "RICE V TEXAS" word game
As some of you know (and others might have guessed), I sometimes do word puzzles as a way to relax or kill time. Yesterday I tried to see how many words I could make out of the letters RICE V TEXAS. I came up with about 100. Here are some of the ones that seemed most interesting"
AXIS
CERVIX
EXCISE
SATIRE
TASER
VISCERA
VERTEX

I couldn't think of one that starts with X.

The rules I used are:
(1) word must be 4+ letters;
(2) a three-letter word that becomes four letters by adding S doesn't count;
(3) only one form of a noun, verb or adjective counts (e.g. can't count TEAR plus TEARS, or VAST plus VASTER), and
(4) a word formed by adding a standard prefix or suffix counts as a separate word only if it's a pretty standard word in its own right (e.g. RESET counts, but RETAX does not).
Admittedly (4) is a sort of fuzzy but you get the idea.

^Chris wins. Well done. Though I'll still throw my hat in the ring with TAXERCISE. As in, "every April 14th my calculator gets some taxercise."

I can't come up with one word that uses all the letters, but I can anagram the letters into "Service Tax," also known as a tip, for those who've ever waited tables or bartended. :)

Are proper nouns out? Because, if not, the proper nerd population (i.e. X-Men fans) is going to be _very_ disappointed in you. As is is the midmajor-basketball-fan population.

Nice - but:

(5) a word formed by SUBTRACTING a standard prefix or suffix counts as a separate word only if it's a pretty standard word in its own right (e.g. EVISCERATE would count, but VISCERATE does not).

The human brain is exceptionally CREATIVE and will always be able to come up with obscure reasons (excuses) why it is still superior in some way to such automata.
