How would you rank the Belt after week one?
1) Cajuns had every reason to rollover but almost pulled out a win against a middle of the road SEC team.
2) Appy State won!
Please fill in the rest...

Yes, let's rank the teams in the league when half played top level teams and half played scrubs. Great idea!

I can give a better answer when our all conference QB returns. I think our defense is better than last year, they just had to play waaaaaay too much as the offense couldn't manage a first down.

Glad to see the Cajuns fight hard, but not sure I would call the Cats "middle of the road" SEC. Bottom of the barrell maybe. Would have been a good win though.

RE: How would you rank the Belt after week one?
1) Louisiana - impressed w/ the effort, caught the last few minutes of the game
2) App State - Not surprised at the outcome, but shutting out an average MEAC team not a bad start for the season
3) Troy - Decent start for Neal Brown, defense looks like it might need some work
4) ULM - Played a better 2nd half, Ceasar had a nice game.
5) South Alabama - Gardner Webb not a FCS power, but it's a W
T6) Arkansas State - About what I expected,
T6) NMSU - Did not watch, was surprised UF scored this many.
T6) TXST - Did not watch, how good is FSU going to be this year ?
9) Idaho - Thought Ohio didn't play all that well, Vandals seemed to shoot themselves in the foot.
10) Georgia Southern - Pathetic game versus a decent opponent
11) Georgia State - Pathetic game versus a bad opponent

Monroe had a very tall order indeed. I'm just asking what you think.

RE: How would you rank the Belt after week one?
Can't exactly give App a lot of love considering how awful Howard was. The good news was that a lot of players on the 2nd and 3rd units got some game experience, especially at QB. Next week will tell a lot more about the Apps when they play a possible Top 10 Clemson team. Otherwise ULL played well and GSU's loss was a disappointment. The loses to Power 5's on the road should have been expected for the most part.

To the question, How would you rank The Belt:
As we had no where to go but up, And as we did about what everyone expected, the weekend neither helped, not hurt the conference . . . .IMO. . . We made no ground, nor did we lose any ground . .. . Bring on week two . . . .

Useless to comment on App after this week or next. We'll have a better idea after ganes with ODU and Wyoming.

RE: How would you rank the Belt after week one?
We really don't have much more useful information in comparing our teams than we had a week ago. App destroyed a team, but that team was so bad that is is hard to know whether we are good or not. The only real plus from yesterday's game is that our reserves got some good game reps. Caruso (backup QB) played most of the second half and looked good. Any game reps are a plus for the subs.
stAte, Texas State, ULM, NMSU all played powerhouse teams and lost. These are the games we HOPE to play tough, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. Hard to learn much from these matchups.
Louisiana lost to Kentucky in a close one. That's not a terrible loss, but it was a winnable game. This isn't a good start for the Cajuns in that it's disappointing. I would say UL definitely isn't where they want to be at this point, but they probably aren't way off the mark.
Troy lost pretty big to a decent NCSU team but put some points on the board. I'm thinking they show improvement from last year but it's hard to tell.
Georgia Southern's loss was ugly and shouldn't have happened. They were mis-matched, but they were also missing their starting QB to a suspension. He'll be back for conference play and that WILL make a difference. They are also definitely missing that OL from last year. The Eagles aren't out of it, but they're in danger of falling from the top 4 if they can't turn this around.
Georgia State's game was extremely disappointing. The D doesn't really appear to have improved from last year and unfortunately the O looked worse. Hopefully Arbuckle can get his rhythm. They did play MUCH better in the second half, but I couldn't tell if an immature Charlotte team got complacent at the half, or if GSU actually started playing much better. Probably a little of both. They did have two nice TD passes.
USA did what they were supposed to do again GWU. I have no idea what Gardner Webb has this year, but they are a better team than Howard by far. These games are dangerous because a decent FCS team uses them for motivation and targets them while the FBS team often looks ahead. It's just harder to get the players hyped and focused in these games. I have to put USA in the "met expectations" category.
Not much info so no conclusions at this point, but UL and GS are on warning. TxST and USA could be spoilers and sneak into the top four if you're not careful.
I am a total and unapologetic App "Homer" so I'm still hopeful about giving Clemson a decent game this week, but the fact is that it might be week three (Old Dominion) before we get a better idea what App really has this year.

One final comment: I do think that App DEFINITELY won the award for the ugliest alternate uniforms yesterday. The All "Yaller" unis were Terrible. PLEASE don't wear these again!

Then D did their job. Held Charlotte to 1 offensive TD and had 5 takeaways. Charlotte rushed the ball 52 times and D held them to three and a half per carry. They did their job.

I remember one year when we beat Sav St 35-0 but still came away with a bad feeling. We scored but they move the ball well and we had to fight for every point.

You may not care, but other people certainly do. The season is not over by a long shot. If you knew anything about college football (and apparently you don't) you would know that many teams have lost the first or second game of the season and then go on to win a conference or even the national championship. Like they say, "One game does not make a season." Case in point, last year Ohio State lost to Virginia Tech in their 1st and went on to with the playoffs and the NC.
