We can beat Texas. All we need to do is bring constant pressure on their QB. He is not very good. GO RICE BEAT TEXAS!!

We should get Shapiro from the Examiner to take over the Rivals site. He covers a lot of Rice events and hardly gets the recognition.

RE: Examiner Article On Game
Here's a link to Google's webcache of the Examiner.com article:

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/se...r-wagner+&

Excerpt:

Quote:The significance: Starting the season off with a win is something many Owls have not experienced at the college level. Sure, it was an FCS opponent who was overmatched at nearly every facet of the game. Rice handled the Seahawks with ease, and combined with Texas’ lackluster performance at Notre Dame, the Owls confidence level will be soaring going into Austin on Saturday.

The grade: B+: The Owls broke in nine new starters with decent results. The offense moved the ball early and often. The running game was terrific, piling up 401 yards. The defensive held the Seahawks out of the end zone in the first half and picked up a pair of turnovers. The big lead allowed Rice to give second- and third-stringers some game action, which could help if they have their numbers called later in the season. Like any first game, issues were revealed to work on moving forward.

...

The good stat: Rice was 11 of 15 on third-down attempts.

The bad stat: Wagner averaged nearly 20 yards per pass completion.

Yep. There were many unforced errors/typos/spelling mistakes in this story. In addition to the Seahawks' incorrect island home, I noticed:
  • "Wagener" ... in the first line!
  • "incomple" pass ...
  • The initial delay was due to "lightening in the area." (Day games must have dark clouds?)
  • "versu" for "versus" in the Wagner coach's quote

(Insert here your favorite lament over a) the decline in young folks' spelling skills, b) the virtual elimination of real editors and proofreaders in the media and/or c) the no-review haste with which articles are too-often posted online.)
