I liked what I saw in the pre-season. He was mobile and accurate. As the 3rd String QB, it's going to be difficult to get any playing time though.

Yes, but the paychecks will help smooth that out.

Wow. Very nice. As a lifelong, and long suffering Vikings fan I wish him well. He did have a solid preseason game last week, so good on him.

Hypothetically, if Bridgewater gets hurt for an extended period of time, it'll be interesting to see what the Vikings do. Let's face it, if Hill is starting a ton of games, the Vikings aren't going anywhere. Why not throw Heinicke in there?

For a short term solution though, they likely go with the veteran.

The newly reincarnated Fran Tarkenton!!! Wouldn't it be awesome for those that remember the Purple People Eaters playing on D for the Vikes, for this team to surge like it did way back when, with a scrappy mobile quarterback.

TH proved he deserved to be in the NFL. This should rub off and give even more confidence to his former team of Monarchs........in that they were playing with a NFL caliber QB.

Thanks Norv Turner. I liked the man when he was coaching the 'skins. Norv is a real veteran in player development.

What's guaranteed now is a contract from the Vikings. But he could still end up on the practice squad after all the waiver acquisitions (near term) and the injury reinstatements (long term) settle out. But regardless of what happens, he is in good shape.

Taylor is on the Vikings roster for good. He has solidified his place in the NFL. Coach Zimmer sums it up as follows:

Q: What impressed you about Taylor Heinicke and you keeping him on the 53-man roster?

A: He got better every week from the first day that he came in here until these preseason games. I think he’s got something to him. He gets rid of the ball quick, he makes good decisions, he can use his legs to get out of trouble and he’s a smart guy. I think he’s a really good competitor.

Hey, Daunte Culpepper was the third-string QB his rookie season with the Vikings. Worked out well for him.

Maybe ESPN is behind on this but they definitely have Taylor listed as 4th string behind Kafka
