In all honesty I don't care if the Skins change their name or not, I'm just tired of hearing about it and being called a racist because I follow my home team who I've loved and followed my entire life. It would suck to see all the traditions go away and I have NEVER dressed in feathers or anything related to Native Americans because 1) outside of the logo on the helmet and the name the organization has never pushed Native Americans as a selling point for the team - we don't do the "chop" like Kansas City, Cleveland, Atlanta, and FSU do - and the unofficial mascot the the team is a Hog (most memorabilia for the team included a pig, not a Native American), and 2) I never thought it was right. Call the team the Washington Haircuts, I don't care. But in my entire life as a Redskins fan, outside of some clueless fans who go to the stadium and dress in feathers and paint, the organization has never done anything to appropriate Native American culture. Yeah I know the fight song used to be much worse than it is today but it was changed. And I know George Marshall was a know racist. The name "Redskins" is a little much, whether it was used as an honorary term or a derogatory term. Nowadays the world is a little too PC for things like that and $nyder and some of the other higher ups on the company have really taken a stubborn stance instead of talking with everyone involved which has made their case that much more despicable in the eyes of people on the other side of his argument.
Redskins 4life!!! Feeling great about this upcoming season!!!
