RE: WE ARE...
Numbers are what they are, but there's a play-calling component that isn't on the youth of the team. Franklin didn't think the rushes on Hack would be that succesful for Temple. But he still RAN the plays that gave Temple the shots. That's not youth. That's questionable coaching...or so some will only project. I think it's an unhealthy mix of the two, the danger being the lack of confidence the coaching has with the kids and the lack of respect that the guys could store up if there's some on this team who want to take the reigns but can't call the shots. Both will show in diminished recruiting. Tick-tock...

RE: WE ARE...
well saw one of the 10 seniors now out for the season with injury.

Going to be a long season this year I think. Still have the toughest OOC game left in San Diego St, and then the Big Ten East is pretty darn hard. Crossover games are Illinois and @ Northwestern. 6 wins and a bowl spot seem to be like the limit for them this year.

I suspect that when Bill beat Michigan after losing to Indiana, he started sending feelers out for pro gigs.

I suspect that if this year's team can stumble to .500, James will do the same.

Right about now, PSU is drooling over Rhule. If he takes Temple to a bowl, and Franklin doesn't with PSU, it will not be pretty for Franklin up there in Centre County.

You know that's Marshall's line, don't you?

Was Marshall using it in 1947?
But you're right, Marshall can have We Are Terrible People With Annoying Fans

FTFY

The irony. Come on over for a game and we'll show you how terrible and annoying we can be.

Wait. What?!

Why would an NFL team hire a guy who has "poor schemes" and is unproven at the collegiate level? Franklin is a helluva recruiter but you don't recruit in the pros. If he can't win at Penn State, the pro teams are not going to whisk him away.

To be honest, I think this is much ado about nothing. I think Penn State rebounds and is 5-1 or 4-2 by the time they lose to Ohio State. I also think they'll make a bowl game.

I don't think Penn State is very good but also think that Temple may be a bit better than people are giving them credit for.

He's definitely not unproven. Winning at Vanderbilt and a sanctioned PSU will give him some benefit of the doubt, as evident by those who look at the roster's age and number of scholarships. I don't think he warrants a mulligan, but I'm not in the business. I didn't think Bill was up for pro gigs, but he was sought after even after one year (with some iffy losses).

Why does he have to be a HC? Is someone up there willing to pay for his work as a coordinator or position coach? Even if he one-off's a year or two in the NFL (again), he becomes a commodity again should he return to college, or he does well enough in the pros to grab a HC gig up there (the coach of Cleveland used to coach some high schools where I'm near, and skipped the collegiate level to the pros)?

The season's early, I agree, but when there's chum in the water in Happy Valley, it's hard to stop their causes when enough people aren't pleased. He took a job that might be much different than what he thought it would. And PSU fans are the kind of jerks who won't let losing to Temple go, whether top-end AAC caliber or a bottom-feeder. Bill's still "fondly" remembered for Indiana, to whom Dear Joe never fell. And it's silly, really...statistics and the probability of certain outcomes the more opportunities increase and all...

The payback of Karma. Those sanctions are still hurting. Because of them, there are talents on Nova & Temple who could be starting on PSU. Nova has the returning Payton Award winning QB(Robertson)

Hand it to Talley, the guy can recruit, and Villanova's a good school. The place is lucky to have the guy...he's too good for them, honestly. Had the upgrade talks happened when he was five years younger than he was at the time, I bet Talley would have put some feelers out there for a FBS gig.

As for the sanctions...I'm sticking to my guns on this one. Last year was to be the bad year. Heck, they were supposed to be dead both of BOB's. This is a mix of youth and bad coaching. And the youth thing, that might get your teeth stomped out in Columbus, Ann Arbor, Madison, and East Lansing, but you can still pop on cruise control against a good part of your schedule. Good coaching doesn't let those jitters take control of a game. Good coaching wouldn't let a junior-year quarterback kept onboard with "the pro-style offensive scheme" getting sacked like ten times, either.

The Ped. State stuff won't ever go away, nor should it.

The program needed a break from the days of Joe and all the crap that came out. It never got it; the end result is a team that will always be known as the pedophile enablers, wether deserved or not.
