RE: 37,000 tickets sold for Purdue game
Yep, we are their Super Bowl. They jack the single game ticket prices, the parking prices, seem to always break out a new uni or intro video just for the game. I have a lot of respect for what Solich has done there, no other coach has really been able to anything in Athens, but we are the game they circle a year in advance.

To put it in perspective, they are charging $42 for a visitors ticket to the game, so a lot of Marshall fans bought those cheap season tickets. Now they will count those sold tickets in attendance for the rest of their home games even though the seats will never be used after Marshall leaves town. That, I guess, is the marketing that was mentioned.

South East Ohio is one of the most economically depressed parts of the country and Ohio University is the largest employer in Athens Co. Offering a low price point for a family pack of season tickets in the corner seats of the stadium isn't just about selling more tickets, its about being a responsible member of the community. The truth is Ohio has a small stadium and a growing fanbase so September home games have been sellouts for the past 5 years regardless of the opponent. Its the cold, weeknight games in November that are a challenge to sell. So, you offer enticing price points for some season tickets (again, this is for a select number of tickets, not ALL season tickets are priced this cheap) and hope it gets people out in the cold games too.

For the past 2 seasons Ohio has broken their own record of tickets sold and ticket revenue collected. Regardless of how that compares to other institutions the goal of every ticket sales office is to be better than ever and Ohio is doing that. So continue to mock their marketing efforts all you want if it makes you feel better about yourself.

Dude, you came to our board and began this discussion. Don't get all defensive about your poor community (Marshall is located in the same region of the country) and pout because your ass was handed to you. The fix is simple--quit running your mouth, stay on the MAC board (get some of that cheap MACTION), and stop obsessing over all things Marshall. You are a stalker.

In response to your other posts, we demolished you last year, and beat your MAC champion by 30 points in a bowl. It's cool that some of your teams beat Purdue the last two seasons. We are arguably the MAC champions last year. We beat you, Akron, Miami, and NIU--badly. By the way, how many of the seven times Ohio played Purdue did they win? Remember, this isn't what another school in your conference did. What was the Mighty Kitties win total against Purdue in those seven games? (Hint: What is zero times seven?)
