yep. I knew several people that spent the night and took advantage of Nashville nightlife after game.

I honestly don't know a single person that would think of Murfreesboro and nightlife in the same sentence.

Did anyone claim you should come to Murfreesboro for the (at least we aren't in Bowling Green)nightlife?

heyzeus in a grilled cheese sandwich.

i'm used to explaining logic to some of your mouth breather fans in the 'boro but you usually aren't one of them. (i'd say they know who they are but that self-awareness would fly against them being mouth breathers)

1. our guy says we had a good crowd.
2. one of your mouth breathers inserts middle into a wku vandy thread (obsession again) wanting to know why we didn't bring more to murfreesboro.
3. another of our guys talks about all the red being worn and posits that being in the downtown area of a vibrant city like nashville could influence the large number of our fans actually showing up (on a thursday night game.)
4. i affirm his statement by saying i knew several that stayed after and some that spent the night to take advantage of what nashville offers.
5. my next statement was i had never heard of anyone talk about the nightlife in one of nashville's bedroom communities. i haven't. not making it up.
6. you live in atlanta so don't get so defensive about the 'boro. i never said anyone 'claimed' it. i was just attempting to explain the disparity in travelling fans between nashville and murfreesboro.

I got you buddy, just nightlife is pretty far down my list when it comes reasons to travel for football, as I would imagine is the case for you as well.

Outside of bowl trips and schools in major cities, I don't imagine many college football cities offer much in the way of nightlife.

On a side note, we have a new guy at my work who played for WKU the past few years. He's a really good guy (not surprisingly a huge Western fan) and honestly my first encounter with a Hilltopper outside these boards.

i know it was incumbent for you to take a bg shot about nightlife but for a small college town bg has put out some pretty good bands. you can catch some really good music on any given night in some downtown spots. the biggest right now being 'cage the elephant' and 'sleeper agent'.

i know we're not blessed with that nashville country corn pop but it doesn't really spin my prop anyways.

and i don't mind nightlife. but it's not why i go to away games. but i did know multiple groups that spent the night thursday and it's not because of the long drive home. it took us one hour from the time we fired up the vehicle until we arrived at our bg exit where everyone staged from.

i kinda wouldn't have minded staying for a little celebration afterwards as i blessed many walkers with 'go tops' on my way back to centennial park. we were in a good mood.

I think it interesting that the Vandy/SEC tv nitwits rarely panned over to the WKU crowd.

I think both cities (BG) looks to Nashville for that. In the SBC I would tell visiting fans to stay in Nashville and drive up to BG the morning of the game. 4 to 5 hours is enough to see the city and campus. Of course outside of the large distention cities it's that way everywhere.

It was a half hearted shot at best and I certainly never claimed that Murfreesboro had bustling nightlife.

If we're comparing the two, I'm going to tend to think that if either city has "better" nightlife, all bias aside, I'm going to place my bet on the city with double the population, a ~25% larger enrollment, and a closer proximity to a major city.

Having said that, for what I need for nightlife i.e. a decent meal, and/or a movie, and/or a bar with cold beer and maybe a dartboard, I'm sure I'd have no problem with the nightlife in BG.

Just a slight correction, unless there's been a big change in enrollment this fall but Fall 2014 numbers were:

2014 WKU enrollment - 20,303
2014 MTSU enrollment - 22,729

That's closer to 11.9% higher. LOL

Granted I didn't pull the most recent numbers, if MT is at ~23k it's come down the last few years, we had about that just in undergrad enrollment when I was a student.

Declining enrollments are occurring everywhere for a variety of reasons. WKU was closer to 22,000 just a couple years ago.

Just my opinion here, but I guess I'm just too old to appreciate this indie/alternative/new wave stuff that's coming out today. The song construction just seems VERY lacking to me. Hey, what can I say...I'm a Van Halen/Foo Fighters kind of a guy. Music taste to each, his own. Still love BG, though!!

I am biased to Cage the Elephant! Great guys, great music, my kind of music! grew up with Brad and Matt back in the day in the Colony Apartments ghetto, haha...I read a Rolling Stone article that acted like they lived in the tracks in Harlem, ie Colony, haha...It was mostly modest living I had thought, I know my dad and I, and brother were not dirt poor....Of course I was a teenager then so maybe worse that I had thought at the time....See beed we have more in common than you would think, haha.....If you see Brad he owes me money!

I'm with TitanTopper on music it's older rock or older country or nothing for me....

my freaking wife knows every song from rap, pop, soft rock to country and like most believes she must sing with every song. So if I listen to anything on road trips it's older rock. Like MTPiKapp, nightlife is the last thing on my to-do list on trips. Two things I can't stand...most drunks and a crowd of drunks. Almost 35 years ago on a date I told my future wife...I'm probably the most boring/shy person you going to meet.

Luckily for me she wasn't too into the bar scene, either, but she loves music so if it's something she really want to see/do I make the effort. In return she NEVER tells me you spend too much time or money on Western sports.

RE: Hilltopper Nation
518. i saw Bradley at the football game and talked to him a little while. he was with his wife and daughter. i believe he said it was his daughter's birthday. 2 year old little cutie.

he and Matthew are both big western football fans. they played football at Gwood. though not big guys they'd knock your dickstring loose. hard hitters.

any money he owes you is between you 2. i'm no collection man. lol.

they lived in greenwood estates trailer park for awhile as well. they weren't balling in those days.

it was weird seeing them in Atlanta. i was pretty far down in the ******* to bellybutton section and was watching all these kids that knew every word to every one of their songs. it was surreal for me. i still think of them as knuckleheads seeing who could do the craziest dive in my pool amongst my sons and all my nephews.

i'm happy for them.

I know Brad especially loves football, and knows a lot about it. They would both knock you into next week, Beed. Good boys great band.

he and Matthew are both big western football fans. they played football at Gwood. though not big guys they'd knock your dickstring loose. hard hitters.

any money he owes you is between you 2. i'm no collection man. lol.

they lived in greenwood estates trailer park for awhile as well. they weren't balling in those days.

it was weird seeing them in Atlanta. i was pretty far down in the ******* to bellybutton section and was watching all these kids that knew every word to every one of their songs. it was surreal for me. i still think of them as knuckleheads seeing who could do the craziest dive in my pool amongst my sons and all my nephews.

i'm happy for them.

I know Brad could play sports, we competed every day for 2 or 3 years n every sport possible....He tackled me so hard one year playing street football I was on crutches for 2 weeks afterwards..Brad was good at everything...Matthew was not much into sports when I was around him and not very good at sports but he was a little younger than us those days...

Yea its weird for me as well, we were just kids doing kid stuff...Still not used to seeing them on TV and when they appeared on David Letterman, I always remember them as kids like me who had a lot of fun together...Loved their mom, didnt see their dad much since he was truck driver, but their mom was the real deal...

Yea my dad sat next to him a few years ago at WKU game, he was asking about how I was doing...Would be good to see those guys and talk to them, I am sure even in fame they are the same guys I grew up with...
