With a few exceptions, Power Five conference teams generally look down their noses at the Group of Five league squads. Remember when University of Southern Mississippi football was one of those exceptions?

When Southern Miss popped up on the schedule, fans of the college football blue bloods knew it wouldn't necessarily be an easy rent-a-win victory.

Ouch. Interesting how Richard couldn't (wouldn't?) shed more light on the 0-12 season. He wouldn't throw Ellllllllllllis under the bus, probably because he recruited him.

That season was truly a trainwreck. Worst ever. Epic. Historic. Over.

It's rare for a current player to throw any coach under the bus at any level of football. You're more likely going to get the PC answer. There have been players who are no longer playing who have voiced their displeasure for Johnson and for Maples.

To put in perspective how miserable the last 3 seasons have been for Southern Miss football...(and USM started playing football in 1912)

prior to the 2012 Eloss season, USM hadn't had a losing season since 1993

prior to the Eloss 2012 season, USM had only lost 8 or more games in a season once and that was in 1976; we now have had 3 straight 8 loss or more seasons

prior to the current 3 straight losing seasons, the last time Southern Miss had back to back losing seasons was 1933 and 34 seasons


But the past is the past and all we can do NOW is try and change people's perspectives based on what has happened the last 3 years.
