The first question is, how many should actually be ranked? The second is, I'm sure there are other conferences that would happy to have them, if they don't like the SEC, so what's the holdup?

Which is why we will see that eventually, southern talent is going to leave the area because of injuries and at some point that kind of competition has a negative affect on some of these players in the SEC.

Play for an SEC team that is a strong team but inevitably appears to have a mediocre year because of the competition or go somewhere else with just as much notoriety and attention and have a stand out year like we are seeing for so many guys at Ohio State this year.

It is inevitable, Time and Pressure.

Interesting point. Tennessee or Kentucky would actually compete for division titles in the ACC. Arkansas and Ole Miss would have a chance for a conference championship in the Big 12.

Kentucky wouldn't. Maybe Tennessee THIS year.

Kentucky would compete for a division title in the AAC, probably make a bowl as well.

Tennessee and Kentucky would immediately be in the top 2-3 of either division of the ACC given their current talent. Tennessee has a shot in the SEC this year.

We don't know anything about Tennessee this year....but I doubt they'll be competitive in the SEC this year.

You're wrong there. Tennessee has the talent to compete for the SEC East crown. Their main problem is they still lack the depth needed. Derek Dooley didn't leave anything to work with, and Lane Kiffin before Dooley left even less. The Vols are still very young. I think next year will be the year we see the full results of the rebuilding job Butch is doing. But you see signs all the time. There's a ton of talent in Knoxville, it's just young

Dobbs is a very good, mobile QB. Jalen Hurd, the 6'4" 250 lb RB from Nashville is a load, and the Vols other RB, Alvin Kamara is no easy task either. But the Vols have over 20 freshmen among their 2 deep roster (forget the exact number), and are without a starting DT, who is suspended for this game.

I think the Sooners win comfortably. But you never know until the game begins. If the Vols get going early, it could be a long day for Oklahoma, and the start of one hell of a run for the Vols.

Tennessee could knock off both South Carolina and Florida this year. When was the last time that happened? They've been close the last two years - but this could finally be the year.

That doesn't mean they win the SEC East - I don't see the Vols getting fewer than 2 SEC losses with Alabama and Georgia in there, but it could be a shift in the SEC East pecking order.
