UCF's offense wasn't doing anything particularly well, frankly. But with FIU desperately crashing th line of scrimmage, play action would have worked pretty well. 40+ yard FGs are dicey in college under normal circumstances. A freshman kicker for the win? Not good odds. They needed more yards, it wasn't time to kill the clock and kick it.

There might be a hundred+ points put up in the Baylor/SMU game. I think SMU has already matched its offensive output from the entire 2014 season in the first 5 minutes of this game. Morris' offense looks good. The QB seems to have a good arm and can run. Still early but they look night and day better than last year.

And they are still a 36 point dog.

Baylor defense sucks big time...they can't tackle for crap.

They aren't top 5...least they don't look like it tonight

Agreed. TCU didn't look good last night either. Think the B12 could be overrated this year. But it's clear to me SMU is a different team this season.

Enjoying the SMU/Baylor game. The top 2 B12 teams have struggled in their 1st game vs lesser opponents for sure.

The talent gap finally got to SMU, but they have some potential.

It's going to take a couple of seasons to right, bail-out, and refloat that boat (at SMU).

I am less optimistic about UConn. Their recievers are big, but slow. Their O-line was not only inexperienced but also got man-handled by Villanova...A LOT. Their QB (Sherriffs) ran more east-west than north-south and didn't look decisive as to when to decide the play was broken and tuck-it and run (or throw it away). The UConn run got stuffed at the line, but that could be because the O-Line was getting pushed around so badly. The secondary held up against Villanova, but Nova lost their starting QB and an FBS quality offense will torch them.

There is promise at SMU... UConn has a lot of rebuilding to do before they start showing hope.

Tulane just needs to clean house.

Baylor looked sloppy and still covered the 34.5 point spread.

Am I the only one who sees White Castle when looking at the Mountain West logo? Nice blocking on a 76 yd punt return brings Washington within 6.

Just watched Washington lose to BSU. They had great field position, refused to run the ball with TOs left, got a holding call then took a sack, missed a 46 yard FG with seconds left to tie. Why they refused to run the ball IDK.

It all depends on where you are on the field, who your kicker is, etc. It sounds like both UCF and UW mismanaged the situation. Coaching is hard.

RE: The 2015 College Football Game Thread
I'm one who probably pays too much attention to attendance in college football, but it could be especially interesting this year with the Nippert renovation and eyes on UC. Some interesting numbers so far.

In P5 conferences, UC is already guaranteed to draw more than 3 teams. That number will undoubtedly rise as the weekend progresses

Oregon State drew 36,000 for its opener, Vandy had 30,000, and Wake a whopping 27,000. I'm watching an entertaining Stanford-NW game now, and there are large chunks of empty seats in the 47,000 seat Ryan Field.

Among our AAC brethren and fellow P5 aspirants, UCF drew 39,000, SMU (sell out) 32,000, UConn 26,000, and Tulane 25,500. Sadly, a few of those might be high level marks given their performances.

Boise State announced a sellout of 37,000 - and it was a rocking crowd - but there were definitely empty sections near the top. Taking some Pitt-like liberties, apparently.

Nippert is going to look awfully good with 40,000 today, and hopefully for at least the next two contests.......

Kansas getting trounced by South Dakota St. at home. Big 12 is just AAC in a dress.

We won't have 40,000 in the seats today...it's a sellout, so we'll announce it, but we just won't, it's the landscape of athletics today, the couch is more worthwhile for some people especially for a game that will get out of hand pretty quickly.

Yes, but we've been trending upward in our attendance numbers, while a good chunk of programs have been trending in the opposite direction.
