(OT) China Shows Off Rising Power in Marking WWII Defeat of Japan
http://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/...ESRC=eb.nl

Quote:The spectacle through the heart of Beijing commemorated Japan's World War II defeat seven decades ago, with helicopters zooming across the sky in an array forming the number 70, but the event also underlined President Xi Jinping's determination to make China the pre-eminent Asian power.

Or, as it is known in China from an out of office message I received today from a colleague:

Quote: XXXX office will be close because of the Special Holiday for 70th Anniversary of Victory of World Anti-fascist War.

Not a bad name for it and the redaction rings true. They are still so paranoid about that little island to the South, let alone to the East, they will ignore the millions they lost fighting imperialism and fascism. And at other times, they are oddly open. Very interesting place.
