Thanks for your kind words

Most everyone else is reinforcing the negative stereotype of AAC fans on this board. congrats. for acting really superior, you're still stuck in the G5 with the rest of us...

Huskies need to stick together.

Anyway, I really don't think that people are putting NIU's attendance problem in full perspective. NIU is located in the suburbs of a pro sports city (one of the largest cities at that) and they are in the MAC. If you put NIU in the AAC, there would be an instant attendance increase due to the better AAC schedule and it would create additional interest in Chicago (where competition for entertainment dollars is fierce due to all that Chicago offers its residents). If we are looking for expansion schools in the future or schools to take the place of a departing member, NIU should be at (or near) the top of our list.

Uh, it's our board. It's not like we went over the MAC board to troll or anything like that. And you have spent an inordinate amount of time on the Realignment Board begging for NIU to get an invite to the AAC, so you must like us or something like that.

But...whatever.

*Non AAC* Thread talking about a MAC school, sounds like an invite over to me, unless you wish to talk smack without anything being thrown back at ya, I have a lot of respect for Cincinnati but I don't have a lot of respect with grown adults making fun of a school that is trying to better themselves and help out students while they are at it. It's like listening to Michigan or Ohio State fans, which I've had to do for almost the last 20 years of my life.

You can't be serious. I have seen you post numerous times that NIU does not have an attendance problem, that they deliver the Chicago market, would be a great addition for the BIG XII, etc. Well guess what? You do have an attendance problem and its not because of the fire Marshall, and last I checked this was the AAC board, no one forced you to come over here.

I play devil's advocate. Do i REALLY think NIU is B12 bound? God no, no realistic fan does. But is it terrible ti strive for something greater? The MAC sucks, nothing wrong with wanting to leave. And the fire Marshall capacity reduction isn't an excuse, it's simply stating what is. Our capacity (until the renovation) is quite small and our attendance sucks right now. Clearly our school is working to remedy this.

First, I didn't start the thread...I wouldn't have started the thread. It's really a MAC issue. That being said:

YOU are sincerely "invited" and "welcome" over here any time you want. But remember whose house you're in. Coming onto this board and then pontificating about the "negative stereotypes" of AAC fans and being all hurt by the fact that some members of the AAC community don't have a whole lot of sympathy for NIU just doesn't impress me. I honestly don't go on the MAC or CUSA boards expecting to find a lot of love over there for UC or the AAC.

Not everyone is as privileged financially like some of the Universities in the American or the students that go to them.

We (ECU) can pick on G5 attendance all we want.

You also then understand the cost of attending a University then as well right? It's a great way to get students INVOLVED with the presence of the university and convince many to keep coming back even after graduating, how about go after the G5 schools who are being lazy about getting fans and students at their games or create policies that could turn people away (SMU is great at doing so Football wise unfortunately). I will never blame a school for trying or insult them for gimmicks or rewards for coming to the games.

We sold a a bunch of $10 seats this year in corners of the upper deck this year BTW. The goal is to put asses in the seat. How that gets accomplished is irrelevant.

Agreed =) thankfully some people are starting to understand this concept and support us. We've had some good local and radio publicity. If we could just get this damn community to embrace us (they see us as an eyesore and a "necessary evil" to keep the town afloat) we'd be golden. Damn townies...
