The HIGH cost of Realignment Football
Tomorrow's opening game between Carolina and South Carolina is being played in Charlotte.
Each team is being paid $3 Million for their appearance.
Tickets purchased through the Rams Club for Club Level Seating in Bank of America Stadium, a whopping $257.14 each. At least that price includes tax.

RE: The HIGH cost of Realignment Football
That's the high cost of neutral-site games run by promoters.

The game promoters have to pump up the ticket prices to make back the money they paid each school and the money they paid to rent and operate the stadium.

They do pay it. Though, if those are club level seats in a box with amenities, that's less than what they probably pay in their home stadium for premium seating/club levels. It's much less per ticket than the premium seating at Cal, which also requires either an annual donation or a big upfront donation. For the two schools in this particular game, I would guess that North Carolina charges about as much Cal does for premium seating options at home, and that South Carolina charges much more.

There are more than 20,000 unsold tickets, so imo it is a big flop.

The biggest teams in both Carolinas can't sell out the stadium. Cheapest seats cost more than the cheapest seats to panther games. Absurd

$260 for club level seats in an NFL stadium doesn't sound like a lot to me.

Now is a neutral site game between two non-conference teams relate to realignment exactly?

$260 for club level seats in an NFL stadium doesn't sound like a lot to me.

Starting club level seating for the Panthers starts at $150, so these prices are 100 more than an NFL game if 260 is the lowest club level seat.

Better enjoy it while you can. Hard times they are a coming. The Big 10 may get caught in an economic bear trap before their contract gets renegotiated. We'll see.

The HIGH cost of Realignment Football
Wisconsin fans aren't buying tickets to the Bama game at JerryWorld. Only 40,000 tickets have been sold. Usually about 70,000

RE: The HIGH cost of Realignment Football
If Wisconsin had MelGor and a veteran coach and a stout defense and a SHRED of chance against Alabama, Wisconsin fans would travel. As it is--with them in great bowl games year after year AND Big Ten title games year after year AND just having played down south vs. LSU last year--their fans are sitting this one out.

Kind of a perfect storm of apathy for them.

One of my neighbors who is a big UNC fan just bought 2 tickets this week (it's about an hour and a half drive). It may be nearly sold out by kickoff tomorrow night.

I think playing this game on a weeknight hurts the attendance. Neutral site games should be held over the weekend.

Sometimes it helps the smaller schools. The Lehigh Vs Lafayette game at Yankees Stadium drew over 42,000 people. That is impressive for an FCS rival game.
